He's right. Mecha was a mistake

>In Japan today, animated TV shows filled with all kinds of fancy, robotlike ,mechanical creations are all the rage. I have certainly drawn lots of mecha, or mechanical things, myself. but the general theme in currently popular shows seems to be that the protagonist jumps on a giant machine he couldn’t possible have created on his own, battles the enemy in it, and then boasts about winning. I frankly hate these kind of shows. I don’t care what types of robots are featured. For me, in a truly successful mecha show the protagonist should struggle to build his own machine, he should fix it when it breaks down, and he should have to operate it himself.

>edutainment about mechanical engineering
>disguised as a mecha

Hell yeah. Make it like Spice and Wolf and Yuru Camp.

he's talking specifically about super robot tho

>Should be able to fix it when it breaks down
That happened since fucking Mazinger and Getter

Well, mecha’s dead now so it doesn’t really matter.

Weren't some of the Gundam pilots required to know about the workings of their machine and be able to repair it?
Is Anno a retard?

>Is Anno a retard?
Yes

amuro fixes his gundam himself, and kamille literally designed the zeta. they're always tech wiz kids.

>Anno
random, but sure.

>Anno
I guess I made a mistake but I'll roll with it.

Source? Also that isn't reflective of real life, airforce pilots aren't required to build and fix their own aircrafts, there's a specific team for that which is also what Gundam does, only exception being Gundam Wing because guerilla warfare

All of them were, or at least they were taught the workings after their first time in one. Amuro even reads the manual for the first ten episodes of 0079. His dad was the one who made the thing in the first place, and if The Origin is canon then Amuro was already snooping through his dad’s notes on mobile suits.
Later on he designs the Nu Gundam himself, too.

>if The Origin is canon
it's not.

Miyazaki has never watched even one of the gundam anime in his life. Even Kira got himself familiar with the Strike's OS before he tuned it to keep up with his god powers.

he would be a lot happier if he embraced escapism

>Old man yells at cloud

I wonder if he's even talking about Gundam.
>battles the enemy in it, and then boasts about winning.

Good. Mecha is trash.

And it should stay dead.
It never should have been born to begin with.

I wonder how he feels about Mazinger being a cultural icon in several countries.

He expects children to build robots? His argument kind of sucks
>Racer wins a race in a car he didn't build himself
>what a fucking loser lmao

It's Miyazaki, he likes to complain about anything or anyone more successful than him. He just has an inferiority complex.

Racers love and admire their vehicles.

No one is more successful than him.

Even fucking Anno has more prestige nowadays than that old pedophile.

Even Speed Racer didn't build his car.

I have a completely different critique of mecha. It's impractical. The only way mecha would have any militaristic use in the future is if warfare is treated like a sport where opposing forces intentionally don't use all the resources and weapons available to them.

He is an escapist, it's just his own specific fantasies that he is interested in

>tomino gets three 1:1 gundam statues, all of which are semi-functional
>oda gets an entire wing of tokyo tower dedicated to one piece
>all miyazaki gets is a dingy kid's funhouse on the outskirts of tokyo

So, what kind of bad things that /m/ did to Zig Forums recently ?, They're literally living on several anons head rent free

Zig Forums secondaries remembered that Gridman was indeed /m/ and they feel like robots are too complicated.

It’s probably jealousy over /m/ not being overrun by spics like this place has.

Wut? Ghibli has their own musuem

An anime where the main character builds and maintains his own mecha would be interesting, but this is kind of a bizarre complaint. When do soldiers irl ever build their own weapons? It’s like saying you can’t cheer for the girls in GuP because they didn’t build their own tanks. I think it’s time to put Miyazaki out to pasture, his old age is clearly getting to him.

He said this 40 years ago

>When do soldiers irl ever build their own weapons
Actually, being able to dismantle your own guns and repair them is among the first lessons you learn.
You learn how maintain them, keep them protected from water and sand, and use/make improvised munitions

Oh, so when Gundam was already a thing. Guess he's getting BTFO by Tomino for 40 years straight.
