When do you think the last Rebuild movie will be released? Around the Olympics in 2021, just like it was planned originally in 2020? Are the Olympics even happening at that date or will they be postponed again?
What do you expect from the movie?
The Rebuilds have been, in my opinion, terrible movies.
The first one was alright, mostly a straight retelling of the initial episodes of the original series, but with worse animation and cut content because of the shorter runtime.
The second one was terrible. More CGI, the introduction of a pointless fan-service character that steals the spotlight from the main cast, the pandering... Maybe that was Anno's intention, but it felt like wish fulfillment.
The third one was also terrible, but for entirely different reasons than the second. The jarring timeskip, the edgy Asuka, the dumb-looking ship, beast mode, even more CGI, the gay piano scenes, the plot that goes nowhere... It was a complete failure.
The ten minutes we have seen of the last film are very, very bad. I don't know if the movie's runtime will be longer than the previous ones, but wasting all that time on a bad CGI-fest focused on Mari fucking around is probably the worst thing that could have happened. Even if 3.0+1.0 is more than two hours long, how can it explain the many lose ends of the previous movies while developing and concluding the plot? I honestly can't see how that's possible.
The only thing I'm looking forward to is Sagisu's awesome soundtrack, and to finally feel some closure after all these years.
Rebuild of Evangelion
Shameless bump.
Khara was selling some limited edition something that had a movie ticket for October/November that's the closest thing to a date we have.
Rebuilds are fine to me. I think 3.0 is the best out of the three but I can't say Rebuilds are terrible when the last one didn't come out yet.
>feel some closure after all these years
Rebuild ≠ NGE
NGE already had 2 endings, Rebuild is just another story even if it's an in universe loop created after EoE or the tv ending.
The way I see it, 3.0+1.0 doesn't really need to do much for lose ends, a few scenes are enough to clarify what I see people questioning.
>What do you expect from the movie?
Something similar to the awakening of unit 13 but with even more shit going on.
When I say closure I'm talking about the Rebuilds, really. As much as I don't like them, I want to see how it all ends. It's been a long time coming. I don't link them to the original series at all.
The only thing I liked in 3.0 was Sakura.
I wonder if they'll show Toji and the other classmates at all. If they're alive, that is.
>If they're alive, that is.
The odds of survival doesn't look so good honestly. But I hope I'm wrong.
FUCK Misato in 3.33. She was a total cunt to Shinji.
Seriously, can't even imagine how heart broken that must have been for Shinji.
I have no Idea how Annos gonna fix that burned bridge. If it wasn't already destroyed by the timeskip, and her blaming him. He Nuked what was left with his actions in 3.33
Yeah, I don't think there's gonna be a reconciliation with Misato. Maybe Shinji dies and at the end she sheds a tear for him or something, but that's probably the farthest it's going to go.
I doubt Anno's gonna kill Shinji. It's gonna be some message about 'learning to live with the consequences of your actions' or some shit.
So basically tlou2 but with some extra steps
Mark my words, actual in universe time travel/ time line jumping will happen
I love Anno for NGE and EoE, but it would suck if he redid the whole theme of EoE again.
You make some good points, there are certainly reasons to believe this fourth movie will suck. But I am more optimistic and I believe Khara has learned from the mistakes of 3.33. They had a long time to think about all the negative feedback before finalizing the plot or starting production. I think this last chapter will be a good one.
She had to be in order to move the plot along. If it was old Misato Shinji never would have gone with ReiQ because she would have attempted to explain what happened. 3.33 is a disaster on almost every level, at least it doesn't look like complete visual garbage.
The death of Shinji-Misato's relationship hurts me more then a lot of things in 3.0
Really? I can’t see it turning out to be anything good, especially with it being held back and potentially changed
3.0 misato at least to me had the potential to be a good character but the way the movie introduces her, executes her, and handles Her is just awful. I always imagined 3.0 misato as a big boss type character someone who becomes obsessed and become the very thing they want to destroy/hate
I’m hoping there is some plot point where misato realizes she’s done goofed but the way I see the movie going I don’t think that’s going to happen anything bad she does will be seen as her being selfless for humanity
As much as I believe anno is an extremely capable director I don't think he will be able to pull out something remotely as good as TVending/eoe
>all the negative feedback
Wasn't 3.0 well received in Japan?
As Shinji, how do you live with yourself after everything that went down and not commit suicide ?
WHAM
SHINJI, YOU HIT A WOMAN!
I miss Unit-01 bros
I spent like an idiot almos 2000 usd in olympic events that aint refundable, they better have 3.0 + 1.0 already when I go to Japan or I swear to God I will fuck a bitch up. And by that I mean whine like the little bitch that I am. sadface.avi
So, should i watch them now or watch for the last one to release? And why the fuck does it have this retarded numbering system?
I'd honestly just watch them now. If you browse Zig Forums you'll eventually get spoiled, if you didn't already.
I hit a NAZI!
Getting spoiled doesn't really bother me at all. I had EVA and EoE spoiled for me but i honestly think it's the only reason i ending up sticking with the show.
Well, when I finished watching Eva+EoE years ago I thought to myself I'd wait until the last Rebuild release week and then watch the previous ones, but one week later I had already watched them. It's your choice really, but if you watch them now you will be able to shitpost until the release of 3.0+1.0
>'learning to live with the consequences of your actions' or some shit.
That would be stupid.
He was a fucking child.
Manipulated by adults (remember Misato cheering on him and shouting to go for it in Reb.2?) with no idea what really happens around and what the consequences actually are.
If someone is responsible it's 100% his 'handlers'.
It would be funny if shinji ever talked back to misato by saying I was just following orders
>Manipulated by adults (remember Misato cheering on him and shouting to go for it in Reb.2?)
That's another thing I hate about 3.33 Misato, she's all pissed at Shinji for his actions, the same actions she herself encouraged Shinji to follow through with.
Yes it was. It's the most sucessful of the 3. The complaints I see are more related to things lacking an explanation but I also see people seeing 3.0 as part 1 and 3.0+1.0 as part 2 of an arc (which is obviously correct) so there wasn't a "worse than grandpa dying" level of anger/stupidity, that's more from this side. It also helps that nips don't doubt the timeloops are a thing becuase they don't ignore all the things pointing at it.
>retarded numbering system
The Japanese names don't use numbers, just the Western ones. The Japanese name for the fourth Rebuild is just the musical notation symbol for "repeat" (pic related)
We don't know for sure, but there are some hints at a possible time loop or something like that. Keep in mind this is controversial stuff, but when you watch the movies you'll understand.
That's possibly the reason it's not 4.0, but instead 3.0+1.0. Or maybe, because of the associations of the number 4 with death in Japanese, they didn't want it even in the international name of the movie.
