Tokyo Ghoul

Happy 9 year anniversary. What was your favorite moment from the series?

NINE YEARS?
I'll need a new quinque after Arima demolishes Kaneki was great

The part when :re ended

I love how much weight that fight had. Ishida really executed it perfectly.

There are a ton of moments, but the confrontation between Arima and Kaneki along with the final chapters of the original TG is realy great

I loved Kaneki's little breakdown rants. Every one of them but especially this one.

Threads pre :re were pretty great

TG could have been one of the greats but re was such a shitshow it killed any of its previous hype

are with throwing the parteeee

Best moment for me was either Kaneki vs Jason, Kaneki's first Centipede rampage or the team fight against Eto.

Edgeneki route when.

>dude was unironically called a kang

Thank you for the years Ishida

All the bureaucratic bullshit.
I unironically love everytime Tsuneyoshi appeared and said
>I order the extermination of ____

I binged this whole thing a few months ago. My favorite scene is Kaneki's conversation with Nishi on the rooftop at the end of TG, it was like the calm before the storm. I also liked every scene that focused on Yoshimura, such a cool character.

>9 year anniversary
wtf? really?

The favorite segment for me is probably V14. Atmosphere of anciet tragedy, transition between Kaneki inner state and place, sadistic and massive Arima - it was absolutely brilliant. If we narrow list to a single chapter, it would be Kaneki's awakening in Rose arc. Very meaningfull and powerfull twist that strongly reframes MC journey. Recent developments in CSM made it clearer to me how really strong storytelling was in TG at times.

Everytime the CCG showed themselves to be the biggest honcho on the block and why every other ghoul hid themselves. I like that it played it straight instead of
>le massive organization gets repeatedly smacked by small, dysfunctional group
Shoutout to BNHA for being the latest offender.

Especially the scene with the Tsukiyama extermination. With all the wealth and pretentiousness they had it still couldn't save them.

Touka and everything before the awful timeskip happened.

really great spread, especially the bigger panel in the middle

I wish it stayed like that, instead of that sudden "muh CCG/Washuu's" were ghoul collaborators all along. After that, humans were no longer threatening and only ghouls stayed relevant. On that note, fucking love the designs Ishida gave them with the white coat and case. The higher ups get a black case to distinguish themselves

The neon kagunes in the anime looked so shit.
Though I never watched past root A, considering I spent the last episode just laughing most of the time.

It's the greatest shame that Ishida never took a break. If only he'd not burnt himself out, maybe Re: could've been as great as TG was and we would've had something nearly perfect

Vancouver was easily the best part of this manga.

I feel like a lot of series tend to descend into that eventually. The Promised Neverland, SNK, Witchhunter etc. Even in western T.V series like 'The Walking Dead'.
I don't get why writers do it. Do they find 'Man vs Monster' boring and think they're being creative by shaking things up? The only recent subvertor of that trope recently was Kimetsu no Yaiba which stuck to its element of humanVdemon up the very end. There were no secret human collaborators or what not. Maybe that's one of the reasons it was such a massive success.

One thing I liked about the Washu however, was Ishida implying they had integrated into human society so hard that they became self-haters that took their duty as the prominent shield against ghouls seriously. It's sort of neat re-reading certain scenes with this in mind.

IIRC, he said he was tired of the series by Volume 7 of the first part. There were 14 volumes altogether there.

Sometimes I'd like to think that a break would save us from many troubles, but then again I rarely read a series with more than 200 chapters that stayed consistently good from start to finish. The best would be if he took a break after Kaneki was named the OEK (:Re even means king) and then started a part 3 by shifting focus back to Amon, Hide etc. But then again, seems like his future series will only be 14 volumes long so he probably learned from that.

There's a future Ishida series coming out?

>There's a future Ishida series coming out?
Have you been living under a rock user? He announced like 5 months ago that he's working on a new manga and that he already "thought about the title of the manga, the general setting, the pattern of combinations for a few characters (for instance, boss and subordinate, partners, 3-person party, 4-person party…), and an overarching structure of about 15 volumes worth". He's probably waiting for the release of JJ until we get more information

I was in hospital until 3 weeks ago so yes, sort of.
Thanks for answering me.
