What other reasons would you watch this show for? The plot is shit and action scenes are below average.

To me, it's cause there's something about Mashima's art that other can't replicate, so the doujin wouldn't even cut it. His story writing is flaming garbage, but his art just has a charm to it that I don't see when others do fan art.

aside the obvious body proportions and cat eyes, mashima has a very good sense of movement (or poses in this case), and that's something your average doujin artist can't really replicate as they're used to the same five character positions with no real sense of movement
