In what fucking universe is it difficult to get a day off on Christmas?

It's japan for fucks sake. Christmas is like the second valentine's day for them

The real question is, why do they even celebrate it? Widespread Christianity isn't a thing over there.

After what the americans did to japanese culture (realistically american have export their culture every but you know) it makes sense they would celebrate it. But it isn't a full celebration it's closer to a mild holiday there, not a complete build up with multiple days off and family visits and what not

in a non christian country

Why did it end up as a lovers day? was this related to some previous event from shinto/buddhists?

retard

Commercialism.

>Japan
>getting days off
You lost me.

Third. They have White Day second. Proof that Jews fear the samurai that they've made 3 holidays to commercialize love.

>his country doesn't by law make you have at least 6 weeks of paid vacation every year

Pleb 3rd worlders

Japanese do get leave but they don't even dare to take it.

Why?

japanese don't like wholesome family holidays

They're just like that, crazy workaholics. Even vacations tend to be the time to go studying,

Unless you work some cruddy low paying job where no one gives a shit if you bail then stat holidays ESPECIALLY CHRISTMAS require some level of seniority and claiming dibs on those day way in advance to get those days off. A company I worked for requried booking it in fricken april.

It's a completely commercialized holiday like Valentines. Except it flows into their New Year which is a big fricken deal to them.

Just don't turn up. Tell them, I don't work public holidays and that you're sure as fuck not turning up on boxing day either.

Have you ever worked in your life?

Yes. I have small bussiness routinely trying to get me back, actually. Just the perks of not being a drone.

Based

What mangai s that?

>say you're not working days you're required to work
>get fired

>have a spine and be good at your job
>some other loser gets rostered to do it instead
Tricky.

so you show up for your rostered shifts after all. please follow your own advice and stop doing that, see how long it lasts.

>dude you're going to work this
>no
>fuck -
Then they sort it out. If your value is sufficient you can do basically anything you want. I've had to endure tradies stealing hundreds of bucks worth of shit regualrly because they were in high demand and we couldn't replace them without tanking our schedule for months.
I forgive you for not understanding this because you've never been valuable or responsible but if you've been the MVP or running a project then you'd know damn well what you can get away with.

you consider this to be indicative of your character and not the character of your work. try that shit outside your industry, when you're not so "valuable" you can steal, skip shifts, and tell your boss to find someone else; when you do that elsewhere, they do, and you're out of a job.

The fuck job you have where you don't have the day off Christmas? Even my retail job gave me that

Being valued is part of my character. I'm not retarded enough to longterm somewhere that I'm not valued and I work hard regardless of my perceived value regardless.\
Sounds like a 'you problem'.
FYI I never steal things, that's fucked. I'm just telling you how much leniance you can leverage if you ARE valuable. Giving you a taste. If you're in charge valued employees are the best and worst thing. Worst in that you have to put up with their shit and them leaving is a MASSIVE ordeal because you've become reliant; best in that they're incredibly productive and can do things that no number of retards could be trusted emulate.

>Being valued is part of my character. I'm not retarded enough to longterm somewhere that I'm not valued and I work hard regardless of my perceived value regardless.\
your value at work is the work you do and nothing else, and if you work hard regardless of being valued it is because you must or lose your "value" entirely. billions of people work somewhere longterm somewhere they're not valued for myriad reasons that have nothing to do with their personal character. if it were soely down to personal character there would be billions of rich people, yet there are not. telling people that everyone can pull your shit is disingenuous and outright false when you've already admitted it's because of the industry in which you work, where the demand for your work is enough to offset your obviously belligerent character.

>Take time off
>Efficiency is affected
>It's now your fault for leaving during a critical time

It's a really vicious cycle.

when you work in the hospitality industry in nearly every country on earth

When you take a religious day combined with buying shit and plaster it on top of a not very religious country, you're left with buying shit, and everybody prefers buying shit for one person
