why was it so shit?
I'm glad it's not clogging the board up anymore
Sexiness was so simpler back then.
Yeah, yoko was cool
13 years later I still say the ending with Nia was stupid, I'm not even gonna say keep her alive but it would have been better to have it be like Hokuto no Ken with Yuria where Kenshiro actually gets to be with her for the remaining time she has, Nia immediately disintegrating was a needless bitterslap, should have made that happen in like a smaller timeskip and then show the rest of the later timeskip stuff that we saw
Yeah, I disliked the way they chose to handle the nia part of ending as well. They could've taken a dozen different approaches that end with her dying which would've felt better, but whatever. The rest of the show was cool and it had an overwhelming positive "humanity fuck yeah" message which media rarely goes for. I know "moving on" is a big part of the theme, but personally, I would've preferred them to have just died together during the fight and secured victory in the process rather than leaving either one alive
I think it was a bit random as well, like "btw she dies", kind of heartbreaking how Yoko and Simon end up alone in the end.
What is it about this classic mecha show for 14 year olds that filters so many people?
it's too popular
yeah it sucked but the idea was to give it a lasting impact on the mentality of the characters. If they showed them happy or content with their romantic situation after they lost such important people it would've cheapened it immensely.
it just does a lot of things right and references a lot of shit. A large portion of the people on this board aren't of the "i'd gladly sacrifice my life or happiness for the sake of my people" , but rather the "what's in in it for me" type. It can make you ask a gorillion questions and it manages to do it while keeping a lighthearted, over-exaggeratedly comedic tone.
They could have kept the lasting impact without it being that abrupt and shitty for the audience if they at least made Nia disintegrating happen at least a little after the weddings been done, like even a few months would have worked a lot better without diminishing the moral of the story
yeah, it wasn't my cup of tea either. But it wasn't bad not enough to spoil my overall enjoyment of the show, especially since they could've done something much dumber, like pairing yoko with simon or someshit.
same in the end, still is basically my current favorite anime I've seen tied with LWA despite how rocky the third quarter of it was and messy it was overall because little witches inexplicably make me so very happy like nothing else
Pre-timeskip Nia has such an amazing design
TTGL is one of my favorite shows as well, mostly due to the broad range of themes it references and the fact that it does it from a positive (and mythology-pilled), rather than a negative (and abrahamic-pilled) POV like NGE.
Yes.
That one brings back so many memories.
f..fuck...
t. anti spiral
Alright boys headcannon time. What does the cast get up to after the ending?
Im sorry that you’re wrong.
R&D to figure out how to achieve what simon did and philosophical studies to ensure that mankind doesn't derp the universe out of existence?
I'm glad the garbage is finally over
not that Simon and Yoko actually end up together but at least the ghost of Nia popping in once just to tell Simon it's not healthy to stay so backed up and that he should plap that fat Littner ass at least once
