Just started watching Serial Experiments Lain. The intro music paired with the visuals was super cool. I've just been listening to the intro song on loop for a while. I really think this could get me into anime. I've always been interested in Japanese culture, and this animation looks really really cool.

too bad there's almost nothing else like it outside of arthouse anime

watch flip flappers its lain but better

what do I do after finishing lain? help I miss lain

Texhynolyse, Boogiepop, Satashi Kon's stuff and eva are where people usually go. Depending on what you got out of it, Yojōhan Shinwa Taikei is maybe worth a look too.

Then once you've got through all of those, you'll watch Ergo Proxy and find it a bit disappointing.

don't open

Texhnolyze and Haibane Renmei are spiritual successors of Lain. Paranoia agent and alien 9 have a very similar tone.

I am not scared because I love Lain and know Lain loves me.

bump

Check out Satoshi Kon's work.
First with Perfect Blue.

what genre of music is the lain op ive been asking for forever

Watch Ghost Hound

Texhnolyze is better than Lain too imo

>what do I do after finishing lain?
Key the Metal Idol can be thought of "Lain before Lain", both shows share a lot in common and are very arthouse with non-conventional stories and similar themes. Though Key's about robots while Lain's about the internet.
As for later stuff with a somewhat similar atmosphere to Lain, there's Boogiepop and Texhnolyze, though plotwise they're extremely different shows.

For something that's similar to Lain in how prophetic it was and how it deals with identity in relation to the internet/cyberspace, there's Dennou Coil. Not nearly as avant-garde as Lain was but its plot has the same appeal if you're in it for the horror undertones, weird atmosphere, and cyberspace stuff. Both have strong "urban legend" vibes.

Great intro music, too.

OP here. Google says Duvet by Boa is "alternative/indie," but it's not like we can trust what Google grabs from whatever site it happened to use.

i do love some ghost hound

very vague

that just means it happened in the 90s, not to be confused with running in the 90s

Pseud trash

its only pseud by proxy, people who didn't get it worshipping it for being deep. its fairly shallow.

you just confused me by adding on running in the 90s

>he thinks this is scary
You need to be 18 to post here.

Fuck off bro. Fripfrap couldn't even stick the landing, man. All promise no performance.

Everyone loves the opening, but the actual show it's boring as fuck.

Unironically filtered. But that's okay it's not for everyone.

I laughed.

this

What makes Lain so cute?

not really?
