LoGH

When will Zig Forums watch it?

Never. They'll forever keep praising it for internet anonymous brownie without ever watching it. They'll forever be disingenuous.

brownie points*

I already watched it.
Second best anime of all time behind Oreimo, IMO.

I already watched it. Death Note and Bebop are better IMO

Been on my planlist for years, say something good about it so I can get motivated to finally watch it.

It looks old. Does the animation hold up?

I did. Stellar for the first 50ish episodes. Pretty great until episode 80ish. Then just okay to the end when new characters come into focus.

if you watch it you will be able to shit on all the people that haven't watched it

It has good music.

>does it hold up
I never understood this phrase? What the fuck does it it matter when the show was made? 80s, 90s, 00s etc, that stuff doesn't matter to me!

new stuff cannot hold up to akira
it doesn't matter when it's made, hand drawn stuff only needs a sheet and a pen

I kind of get it. Some older stuff can look a bit janky. For example, I'm jealous of people who can watch the War in the Pocket Bluray remaster (it was announced right after I finished it).

Even though it's got a great story and isn't THAT old, I found Thunderbolt S1 a bit easier to watch (made in 2010s and had a smooth cel-shaded artstyle)

i watched it just for the nerd clout in uni

I haven't watched in years but, from what I remember, the first quarter is a slow buildup, the second quarter is god tier along with the third quarter and the last quarter is a satisfying ending, though not as amazing as the middle.

I'm up to episode 75 and I have to say I'm getting a bit sick of Yang outclassing everyone and the recent and inexplicable incompetence of Lohengramm and his brass to maintain suspense. The second capture of Iserlohn was a joke where the Alliance apparently had the technology all along to send encrypted messages to imperial generals identical to what they'd receive from their superiors. This aspect of Merkatz's offensive was basically irrelevant and only served to show how incompetent Lutz and his staff are. The battle with Bucock that followed showed Lohengramm and Ruental saying what the right moves were but then allowing lesser admirals to take excessive causalities. Yang thoroughly outclassed Lohengramm when they were evenly matched and I think Lohengramm's just going to have to stay butthurt about that for the rest of his life since it's unlikely he'll ever be put in such a situation again.
Another thing that bothered me is how Yang refused to disobey orders from his government when they told him to surrender and Lohengramm was within his grasp, but then in peacetime he immediately starts taking unauthorized moves against the government's wishes by having Merkatz seize the remnants of the Alliance fleet that was arranged to be destroyed. And this was before any actions were taken against him that would make him doubt the government's legitimacy as a democratic body. It makes a little more sense when he explained that he didn't want to kill Lohengramm in the last episode but still, he did so at the cost of the entire Alliance.

>behind Oreimo
BASED

I watched it a couple years ago. Along with My Conquest is the Sea of Stars (this was actually more recent) and Overture to a New War.

It ends after like season 2 and then drags on running in place and never provides a satisfying conclusion.
Overrated / 10

It actually ended after episode 7. Everything else is filler. My armchair storyteller opinion is absolute and you cannot argue against it.

>dog eat dog food
>as for Zig Forums one has to feed them shit

Even if he killed Reinhard, Reuental would have retaliated on Heinessen. And the Empire still existed and whoever filled the power vacuum may not have been as just as Reinhard, who Yang still respected. The result may not have been better for the people of the Alliance.
As for Yang's disobedience after the defeat, that government was just a vassal of the Empire and not really the FPA that Yang was loyal to.
I have to agree with your first point though, Yang is a overpowered, and is clearly just used as the voice of the author's philosophy.

The garden side stories are the best part

After Yang beats the Death Star in episode 7, you can drop LoGH and watch The Empire Strikes Back instead.

What was his problem anyway?

Yang's not just overpowered strategically but the Rosen Ritter too remove any suspense from a scene. I'm glad that the series has kept Julian's antics as a pilot to a minimum, I would have raged if there was an instance where an imperial admiral with the tactical/strategic advantage lost because Julian and his buddies were just too good.

Paul Von Oberstein

um, yeah. about that....

i’m on my third rewatch, episode 52 ish

DL'd some of it already.
Do I need to start with the first movie or can I just jump in the anime?

Revenge of course. One filthy noble at a time, then the phezzani subverters, then democratic scum, then the terraists. Not even imperial admirals are safe from oberstein.

See this is what I don't understand. It's the perfect setup for a good story
>charismatic dictator takes over empire
>leads conquest of democratic nation
>scrappy team of revolutionists decide to rebel and take back their nation
what should have been:
>scrappy revolutionaries win guerrilla victories
>dismantle the invading empire
>kill charismatic dictator
>maybe some glorious finale with characters sacrificing themselves for the greater good
>peace talks? maybe...
what we got:
>revolutionist leader just fucking dies in the lamest way possible
>rest of the squad fuck around
>meanwhile there's a rebellion in the new empire by some general over a simple misunderstanding
>scrappy rebels decide to not side with the empire rebels against the dictator???????? what?????
>doesn't matter, emperor mary sue wins anyway
>scrappy rebels get bored and try to kill emperor
>new rebel leader decides to sell out and join the empire and everyone else dies
>every other remaining character dies in like 2 episodes in some lame fucking fashion
>THE END

What a god damn mess

Yes. The Fezzani are the secular merchant Jews and the Terraists are the Elders of Zion. This isn't controversial.
