The brewed alcohol is the novel "Roadside Picnic".
The first time it was distilled is the film "Stalker".
The second distillation resulted in the games that reference the film's title, "Stalker".
And now we've gone full Irish and triple distilled it into "Otherside Picnic".
Now the original concepts of "Roadside Picnic" have been distilled down to just a few cliches.

It's not an assumption but I'll give you its circumstantial, the guns and combat plastered all over it is pretty strongly from the game. The games had already boiled the original novels high concepts down to

The self reinforcing shock and the suspense of those two cliches is all the setting has become. What it was boiled down to. If Otherside was taking inspiration directly from the source it would have a broader catalog.
