Children need longer to generate the same value as adults. They work longer so that they can get living wages.

Just Japan things

pretty sure Japan also has an 8 hour work day.
So do they really force the new workers to do overtime on the first day?

when you do a job you like, its not a job anymore

But they get a 4 hour break for lesbian sex

One of the largest criticisms of Japan are the horrible working conditions.

Oh no! Not 12 hours straight working with Hifu-nee!

Most companies have 8 hour workdays and they passed a law a while back that says a company can't legally force the employees to work overtime, and if they voluntary decide to work overtime it can't exceed a certain amount of hours in a month. However, I've heard that everyone is generally expected to stay longer anyway as some kind of unspoken rule. Basically if you punch out as soon as it's quitting time, everyone is going to look at you as a slacker or piece of shit.

They don't force them. They don't have to because they do it anyway, in fact managers have to stop them from doing at and suffering karoshi.
It's a society based on shame after all. If you are not a good employee, that is shameful and people will bully you for it. If you do not participate in nomikai (getting wasted with your colleagues after work), they will bully you. If you do not deliver enough work, they will bully you. Stuff like Matsuri Takahashi's case in 2016 where she got a position at an ad agency and a few months later she jumped out the window because the culture at the company said everyone had to record less hours than actually worked is fairly common. This phenomenon is well known since the 80s but like any cultural thing, improvement is very slow.
Hell, the fact New Game and slice of life/CGDCT anime exists is because after 12-14 hours of work people literally cannot think and somehow they have to stop themselves from committing seppuku.

That's pretty normal in Japan, average overtime has been constantly decreasing though.

I work 5pm to 5:30am, you can make the most of it if you have the will

Almost everyone I know who isn't poor works 12 hour days

I only work 7 hours for 100k payment
work smart not hard

I should also add that around here people who work 12 hour days only work 3 days per week with one 4-day work week out of the month

yea people say whatever they want on the internet these days

Feels good being poor and not having to slave away like that.

>feels good being singlehandedly responsible for Germany being so far away from France
0 hours of work so far, and going strong.

>don't do shit
>control Europe anyway
German BVLLS are unbeatable.

This doesn't account for unreported hours, which is a big problem in Japan.
Do you really think Americans work more than Japanese?

>Do you really think Americans work more than Japanese?
Americans tend to have multiple jobs because a single job doesn't pay enough.

A lot of jobs in the US also do mandatory overtime and require you to have kept the same job for 1 or 2 years before you qualify for tiny amounts of paid time off

Nigger who the fuck you working for?

The whole gaming industry is like that, especially when deadlines are looming.

>9 and up to 21
21 isn't a time, dumbass

9 and 21 are both numbers, but we can assume that OP meant 9 o'clock and 21 o'clock.

Why can't Americans count past 12? Why did they have to come up with a letter system to help them distinguish between the hours?

The 8 hour day is bullshit that was forced though by socialists. Japan doesn't do commie bullshit that only damages the economic power of the country.

They are game developers, so unpaid overtime is the norm. Nothing to see here.

I have barely left the house in years but back when I was a vaguely functioning human that's how a lot of the jobs in my area were.

I did have one job at a call center that did Comcast tech support for businesses and they gave shit loads of time off compared to other companies in my area but that was only in an effort to try and keep their ridiculous turnover rates down (my training group had about 60 people at the start of the 2 month period and at the end only 5 people remained)

>12 hours a day
>alot
ohhhhhhhh myyy

Who the fuck wants to work more than 8 hours a day?

How?

I am a certified autist. Sometimes I get calls from the Jobcenter, but otherwise they are happy to leave me in peace.

It's a worthwhile trade off to avoid doing 5 day work weeks, a lot of 12 hour work day jobs only do 3 day work weeks which means more days off which is 10 times better than working 4 hours less per day

Okay that I would 100% do. 4 day weekend? Hell yeah. But 12 hours for 5 days a week? I'd just quit and work part time and take the hit to my income.

>unreported
is there a worse meme?

I worked 0 hours total my whole life and I have a house and a car. 30+ y.o. Get on my level.

I'd rather be poor than live my life at work.

It's especially bad when you're expected to do extra work without getting paid. There was a big scandal some time ago when they discovered junior lawyers were working so much unpaid overtime, that their pay per hour worked out to less than minimum wage despite needing a minimum of 4 years full time study at university to enter the profession.

Are you sure about that? In Mexico paid overtime is pretty much a myth, everyone reports less. So I would assume they handle that kind of practices someway in their data.
