Wow japanese fans are vocal about the new chapter and they are not happy. Theyre discontented with the way eren's character is going and the whole genocide. I guess they were holding out hope for a lelouch route. There's even a petition that's garnered thousands of signatures to have the chapter changed. Obviously that wont happen but it shows how unhappy they are.

If a peaceful diplomatic ending is possible then what recourse does Karl, Kruger, Zeke, and Eren have for why they decided such a ghastly outcomes were inevitable? Were they just unimaginative? The possibility of peace never crossed their mind and they just relish in the idea of genocide? It could be that way, but if so then it makes the series as a whole a lot less interesting if it turns out the movers and shakers are all just maniacs who wanted genocide for the sake of it.
