H2

I stumbled upon this hidden gem.

Adachi Mitsuru is anything but hidden. incidentally, i think Rough is his best work.

Hidden in the west, even if he’s side to side with Rumiko in Japan.
H2 is great user, enjoy.

yea Ithink it was released in the late 90s.

This was one of my least favorite Adachi, it was just way too long and I don't think the more tense love polygon worked as well as his usual lighter relationship dynamics. I wound up dropping it somewhere in the 20s volumes.

I hate newfags who don't even know Adachi.
ALL his stuff is gold. If you're in the know, not one is hidden.

Yes I know that very well.

>All of his stuff is same

Fixed

So what other anime did he publish?

I only delete misspelled responses.

...and racial slurs. :3

Enjoy the ride, user.
But for me Adachi best work is still Touch!

Ok, i will. UWU!

This
How did he got away with making same shit for three decades with same story and characters

Yea, I know right?

Both are true.

Is he still alive?

I enjoyed it but it was definitely much longer than it needed to be

H2 > Touch > Cross game

It depends. I'd argue that he sort of is in the United States since the only work of his that's ever been published here is Cross Game. If Ranma wasn't airing at the time the anime fandom here started establishing itself in the late 80s/early 90s Rumiko might not enjoy the same level of popularity here either.

I'd also argue that Ranma having a lot of slapstick and comedy focus plus fighting made it a lot easier for people to digest than slower paced, atmospheric coming of age stories about romance and sports.

Because he's able to tell a good story, his characters are entertaining and likable and there's just the right mix of drama and comfy slice of life.

Yes though I think Mix has been on hiatus because COVID means he can't have assistants around.

Interesting little side fact but Kotaro from Touch (and I'd guess any other fat catcher character from his works) was inspired by his friend from high school who went on to become famous as Mr. Pogo, one of the innovators of modern deathmatch pro wrestling in the early 90s. If you've ever played Samurai Shodown the character Earthquake was inspired by him having a few of his signatures (facepaint, use of a kusarigama and breathing fire).

the rumiko curse

You can't polish perfection. I enjoyed all of his baseball series I've read/watched so far, even if they're very sikilar to each other.

Touch > Katsu > Miyuki > Mix > Rough
the rest is shit

>The rest is shit
>He hasn't seen Hiatari Ryouko
Come on mate.

There was a poll where he couldn't even tell his own characters apart.

i think i read the manga but i dont quite remember since Adachi reuse too much baseball setting and same face

That one wasn't about baseball. It was one of his published in a shoujo magazine, the sports were track-and-field athletics for the girl and ouendan for the boy.
It along with Miyuki are my favorites.

Adachi is also very self-deprecating though and frequently takes shots at himself in in his work.

then i think i confused it with Nine, thats why i love Katsu and Rough since they are both other sports than baseball

It's true, in Miyuki in particular, he made fun of the fact it was a shounen magazine and he was known for doing sports by having those gags, "HOT BLOODED SHOUNEN MANGA" and then he gets hit in the head or something.
Miyuki was really out of the norm and it parodied the author's usual style, it was great. Just a pervert boy and two girls, nothing dramatic besides the drama itself.

Go try out watching Nozomi Witches. It's not technically Adachi, just uses his designs and is about boxing. Then there was Slow Step which is another of Adachi's shoujo. It had a little women's softball, but it was more about the boy's boxing and the love triangle (like usual).
Honestly, most of his work is never about the sport. It's just what he tricks sports manga fans with so he can show them love triangles and coming of age drama.
It's Shounen Romance. (or shoujo romance in the case of Slow Step and Hiatari Ryouko).
