Satoshi was a good character.

>rose colored elementary school
>rose colored middle school

>meh post college

he and mayaka are the most realistic probably.

Apparently they were dating all along of camera. Even before the series began

Then why did he mess with the cookies?

Pretty much out of fear.

High school is fucking gay, I wanna be a pirate and go around raping and pillaging

Fear?

Arrrrrr.. Kino

No,i just wanted my family united again.

So, basically
>Oreki pretends to be a bored nihilist to avoid confronting life
>Satoshi does the same but pretends to be a positive airhead instead
>Oreki kinda accepts he likes Chitanda by the end of the show
>but Satoshi is still scared of commitment and goes full autism with Mayaka
Did I get that, right?

Throughout the series is the sense that Satoshi feels inferior to Oreki and his powers of deduction. With every arc/mystery he acts simply as a "database," in his words, and that he, unlike Oreki, cannot make meaningful conclusions. This is best shown by his reaction at the end of the "Kanya Festival Arc" where he is still "beaten" by Oreki, despite trying his hardest to figure out the culprit. What drives this feeling of inferiority is his own obsessive nature.

Pretty much all of Episode 21 (IIRC) is about him and his past of being obsessed with being number one at everything.
He monologues about how he eventually overcame this unhealthy behavior by, in his words, "[becoming] obsessed with not being obsessed with anything." In his eyes, not being obsessive about being the best at everything has made his life more enjoyable.

He fears that by accepting Mayaka's confession and leaving the comfort bubble he had built for himself, his old habits will come back.

No, but they start dating in the novels after the events the anime showed.

Yeah, but that's as far as it goes because just like Satoshi he's afraid to make his feelings known because of the responsibilities Chitanda has in her life

Fear and hesitation on things like that continue to define the series to this day if the author will ever finish it.

I prefer lilac

based

that's way better than my meh life, I'm in college and I do not even like my course but I can't pull out because of scholarships and pressure

I understand all that, my contention was the claim that Satoshi and Mayaka were dating the entire time.

>shit childhood
>shit puberty
>shit adulthood
At least I don't regret missing out.

>the claim that Satoshi and Mayaka were dating the entire time
They weren't

Yeah the user that said that was probably mistaken.
sounds right, but it's been a while since I've read the translated LNs.
