I read the manga and I liked it. Kinda forgot at what happened to homunculus in the end.

Greatest anime ever made

03 was much better

I watched and enjoyed the dub and I will not apologize for it.

I watched that one first. But I liked Brotherhood better. The story was just more cohesive and it all fit together. 03 was really weird for me. The alternate timeline thing was just out of place imo.

Ya, I watched the dub too. I personally switch between sub and dub depending on how I feel. And the dub was really good in brotherhood.

But OP didn't post Steins Gate

dub was pretty eh, might be because i'm used to subtitles or that i just liked FMA03 way more

other than the ending which was way more conclusive i wasn't really a fan. but one of the best animus of all time i can't argue that

I liked father more than Dante

based

fullmoe alchemist (brotherhood) is the most kino anime

The guy you're responding to is trying to troll for easy (You)s. There's an endless shitposting war over which of the two anime was better. The closest thing you'll get to a consensus is
>Manga is better than either one
>FMA 03 has the better soundtrack and a much better first third or so, plus some key moments that are just perfectly-directed
>Brotherhood has a weak start but hits a stride and keeps it the whole way through
>FMA 03 shits the bed, HARD, at a certain point, but precisely when that point is depends on who you're asking

>Lan Fan is best girl
I'm gonna stop you right there

I dunno why Hawkeye and Winry yuri doujins were a thing for a while but I appreciate that they were.

Both versions were destroyed by bad comedy, unwatchable by 2012 or later as Japanese comedy has recovered.

probably cuz of that one OVA episode

Yes. Yes she is.

No it's not, the divide is between whether or not you like eccentric fantasy dramas or quirky steam punk shonen.

I prefer 03, mainly because it handles homonculi better and the concept behind the world is just straight up superior.
I'm not a fan of Father or the homonculi in BH. They're creatures defined by a nature, doomed to live by that nature, but passed off as somehow, not, leading to a lot of stupid scenes.
I mean fuck, in BH they're not even Homonculi. they're parasitic philosopher stones housing a fragment of human flaw so that a god particle bound in human blood can feel more like a god particle.

I'd strongly disagree. I think 03 actually handles the homunculi in a much worse manner, and in a much more indefensible way for the fact that Sloth's dying words accidentally subvert the entirety of the "drama" that their existence was meant to inject. The implication that she REALLY WAS Ed and Al's mother deep down and just refused to admit it justifies their foolish attempt to revive her at the beginning of the series. They were right to try and bring her back, they just didn't do it right.

I think this throws such a gigantic monkey wrench into the entire story, that the damage done to the theme is irreparable.

But that's why I told the guy, it's an endless shitposting war. You will NEVER get a conclusive answer.

Not that user, and I lean more towards the manga, but having rewatched 03 recently I think that with Sloth it was more that she had Trisha's memories. It was kept ambiguous and open.

IMO it's an excellent entry-level show with some very memorable characters and moments, and a fantastic OST.

>Justifies
She doesn't have her soul so it's not really her. Even if Ed and Al got themselves a water mom out of it, she would always be a copy.

Having the Homonculi be the byproduct of foolish Human Transmutation is a much better idea than how BH handled it, which was more like an "oh yeah, that happened" and a weird justification to give people clap alchemy.

To me her death scene was too close to an admission for me to let slip. Saying "well, it's left ambiguous whether they accidentally ruined the central theme of the entire show" doesn't cut it for me.
I mean you say that but 03 then turns around and shoves everything to do with Wrath and Izumi at you. You can't have it both ways, which is what it tried to do.

>You can't have it both ways
It's supposed to be in that ambiguous uncomfortable line because it cements the punishment of human transmutation. You've brought back a loved one, but they aren't really you're loved one, and are in constant agony the closer they get to becoming your loved one.
It's a lot more fucked up then making a random human corpse, losing a limb and having glowy smile god mock you for being a dumbass.

Also, consider for a moment that Wrath was created through his own abortion. Having never quite been a person to begin with, it's easier for Izumi to project on to him that he's her son.

>then making a random human corpse
I actually liked this though, it brought one of the best moments of catharsis in the series. That after spending a day out in the rain, frantically digging up the corpse of what he believed was his own mother, Ed is actually relieved to find out the truth, and is all but crying tears of joy. There's a real sense of comfort the brothers share when they realize that for all their fuck-ups, they didn't cause their mother to suffer even more than she already had.

I always felt the manga/Brotherhood was superior at evoking pathos.

Fmab actually has a pretty decent dub

Yeah, that's pretty gay. If compare early FMA to latter you can really tell the Mangaka thought she was getting "too dark". At some point, nothing in the first part matters, just blame the gay little god particle.

It was great but read the manga, particularly for the Ishvalan war part which was grossly cut in the anime. Also your girl has an extra fight that wasn't in the anime.

You are both correct.
