Are there any actually good Jap live action adaptations? Is it impossible to make a good one?

Japan values popularity/looks over acting ability.

Some are decent, pic related.

Rurouni Kenshin.

I actually thought the live-action JP Death Note films were pretty fun.

huh name?

I've only seen a few and I obviously watched the anime or read the manga first and they're pretty 50/50. The only one that I can say was good and would still be good even if I wasn't familiar with it's source material was the fable

Based Japan

I like the Sailor Moon live-action show because it feels like its doing its own thing. The musicals from what I've seen are fun too. Meanwhile the live-action FMA movie and the Osomatsu-san stage show should never have existed.

Japanese live action with even a trace of comedy is doomed
Anime is always less funny than manga
Live action is always less funny than anime

>Japanese live action with even a trace of comedy is doomed
Basically. I watched both Gintama movies and while I enjoyed them for what they were and you could tell the cast and crew had fun bringing Gintama to life its weird as hell in live action and doesnt hold a candle to the source material

>Anime is always less funny than manga
I disagree. The funnier a manga the funnier it can be in anime form if done correctly. For me voice acting can be a big part of comedy especially if you're familiar enough with how japanese people speak/the comedic flow and timing of japanese

>Live action is always less funny than anime
yea pretty much. Anime can exaggerate

Kino live action

How are the creature effects? Hallucination effects?

pro wrestling

Is this Ajin or something? If so I didn't know it had a live action movie.

Bleach is a decent one

I actually like the Kakegurui live action, kinda entertaining even if it's objectively pretty bad.

LIFE is really really good. Love the Solanin and Nana adaptations too.

>objectively bad
>objectivity
Go back to wherever you came from

They did LIFE? OH shit

Bleach surprised me at how decent it was

I thought 9/11 happened in America.

There was an 11 episode drama adaptation back in 2007. Haven't read the manga, but the drama is super addicting.

It's not

It is.

>Is it impossible to make a good one?
Older shit like Gokusen, GTO or Nodame are great.
Pic related managed to be even better than its source material by merging the guys into one storyline.

>airline jet is only two stories tall

I just started watching the 98 GTO. Its pretty cringe but onizukas actor saves it. I can't believe shun oguri was suicide boy.

Is 2012/2014 series any good?
