The only reason I buy multiple copies of anything so I can sell off a limited time commodity at a premium price once the manga gets axed.

I make an effort to buy physicals of axed series I really enjoyed, though. They tend to just be a few volumes anyway, and I can give them something of a hero's burial by exhibiting them proudly on my bookshelf.

No, because it doesn't work like that.
JUMP went all in on the correlation in their Ranking system, which require people to send in ballots via mail. Selling another 10.000 copies doesn't matter because the marked is larger than that, so is the cross promotion in merch and anime.
