It's definitely worth watching to the end.
It's really really generic in the beginning.

One of the most enjoyable animes i've ever seen. This shits fucking hilarious through and through. connoisseur fags take it way too seriously they miss the genius. School Days 10/10 best comedy anime.

Try looking at the screen when watching anime. It's the same deal as with Madoka, it shows you exactly how dark it's gonna be within the first two minutes, as long as you have any visual comprehension.

The "generic" first half of School Days also has some of the best-written love drama in the medium, the show is a massive case of pearls before swine.

Even the porn is meh.

Watched it on a whim a few months ago and it became one of my favorites. Definitely recommended if you enjoy tragedies or comedies.

It's kino. It's actually pretty amazing how well-written it is. You would never know it was based on a smutty coomer VN if you only watched the anime without doing any outside research on the series. The art style is a little dated by today's standards, but the story is great. I always wished they would remake the series with a "good" ending, but I think 0verflow is kill now. This came out during the "shock the audience" fad in anime that started with Dokuro-chan iirc.

The source material has pubes so that's a plus to me at least.

The "VN" is basically an interactive anime anyways, so you can get your good ending in it.

I never watched school days but I get what you mean, I never for a second thought Madoka was meant to be light hearted and I was surprised to learn so many people were shocked by episode 3. Granted Madoka was the first piece of non movie media I ever actually sat down and watched beginning to end so maybe it was more deceiving to people with more experience.

All the girls at the school were sluts except for Kotonoha, who was the only person in the situation who was entirely innocent.
