Like most people Pokemon and Yu Gi Oh (cannot remember which came first) were one of the first if not the first ones I watched. There were also a few episodes of one piece and sailor moon that made it to tv but they never continued it. Lastly there was a certain robin hood anime whose intro theme song had been embedded into my mind even before I spoke english.

The first anime I even watched after I learned that anime and cartoons are two different things was Elfen Lied. I was probably much too young for something with so much nudity and gore, but I still remember it fondly.
Shame it got canceled mid-way.

Technically Pokemon, but I never really saw it as being an anime.
The first show I watched fully aware that it was an anime was Code Geass.

Fucking Mermaid Melody . Second was Death Note.

Pokemon when I was 8 years old. It aired right after I got home from school, so I would always run in the house and get ready to watch. Good memories.
Technically, my first anime was some season in the Dragon Ball series since it was airing on American TV.
My real first anime was Konosuba.
You posted it unless counts

while europeans and south americans got introduced to anime thanks to TV airing it since the 70s, most americans had to wait the internet age
