I really liked the show overall.
The tone was great, cute waifu shenanigans with an always present background feeling of imminent dred.

i did like the first few episodes a lot when it was just exploring urban legends of the school and the shenanigans as you say
it's mostly towards the ending that it got painful to watch, the plot was already clear by episode 6 or 7 or so and then it took still 5 more episodes to tell it with super cheesy scenes
