Looking at buying a 1990 NA Miata on the cheap. Has a few mods like a short shifter and exhaust. Is there anything I should watch out for other then the obvious?

SNC, shortnose crank, IIRC all 90s and some 91s have this bullshit that make the early NA6 undriveable. I'd recommend a NA8 or NB if they're available. Also, rocker panel rust, and holes in the top. If you ever want a hardtop, your best shot is buying a car with a hard top already, if yours doesn't have one, you'll have to pay out the ass for one.
