He should have used a vacant location at night connected to coffee shops wifi to do his bidding. And when he collected the funds he should have funneled the bitcoin through multiple wallets and buying monero with those multiple wallets across multiple exchanges. Then transfer it all to one cold storage monero wallet.
Then for an extra measure of security transfer it all again from another cold wallet all while doing this through a coffee shops wifi where no cameras can see you.
