It was trash. Rustal didn't die, he kills all of the protagonists. You don't seem to have paid any attention to the story and just watched it because there were two females in it, because that seems to be all you took away from the ending..... Stupid, or did you even watch it at all?
The only reason Mika and Orga died is because the story writers fucking sucked and ruined the story halfway to the end.McGillis and Tekkadan should've killed Rustal and the other corrupt bastards.

I like season one because the mechs don't use pew pew lasers and the fights were meaty like broken blade's. Season 2 was a clusterfuck.

Are you talking about Rustal? Because he's the one who teamed up with an insane criminal and was defending the corrupt Gallerjorn government. McGillis and Tekkaden only lost (aka the terrible ending of the series) is because story writers for the show chose to trash the story. Probably because they were told to, to teach a lesson about how even if a system is corrupt you should just sit back and accept it.
McGillis could've easily taken Rustal out if Orga got in a mobile suit but the story writers had to not let that happen, even though Orga was prepared with a A.V. already installed in his back to pilot a Gundam frame. What a joke. They intentionally ruined this great story with the wretched ending.
All of you who defend the ending can fuck right off.

The best thing about IBO (plot and ending-wise) is how realistic it is.
You may think now: "what the fuck nigga they acted like complete retards, especially McGillis". But that's the point: they thought reality was dictated by certain rules that just don't apply.
The prime example was McGillis, who thought the Gundam was enough for him to get the Gjallarhorn behind him. But as we saw, what really dictated the power dynamics was money and control of people, not honor or anything ethreal like that.
The same theme repeats when they bombard Barbatos with the Dáinsleifs, they just say "well we'll cover it up lol they can't do shit against it". The "villains" are just people that see the world in a really pragmatic way, and do whatever it's necessary to win.
