The TV series is better than the OVA.

I didn't like the OVA, I found it boring, but the TV series was so engaging I got too scared to continue watching for a long time before I could finish it

I love the armor in Lodoss

I don't know why they would be. They mess with a lot of the story by essentially combining 2 arcs into one and replacing Spark with Parn.
The anime is a more faithful adaptation.

When watching the OVA and the TV series, switch from the OVA to the TV series after the fight between Emperor Beld and the King. It will make more sense that way except they changed how that fight went in the TV series.

That's why it's better.

Fantasy comedy but it mixes its comedy so well and so subtle that it doesn't even mess with the main plot.
