You're not wrong. I was around 16 in the heyday of Digimon and a friend of mine presented me to a friend of his that was also fan of Digimon. He was kind of a creep. He was going far beyond just enjoying the show. He wrote fanfic, dreamed with meeting his Digimon partner, etc... It was the first time I felt genuinely out-geeked.
