The first one I ever watched was Pokemon, although back then I did not know what anime was.
If I remember correctly the first anime that I was aware was anime was Death Note.
It was the one that got me into the genre, mainly into psychological ones like Kaiji and One Outs.

Yes, it's delightful.
Everyone will write "newfag" on bricks and throw them at me but I don't care. I've seen a decent number of shows since, including many highly-regarded, and Kemono Friends is still up there. It's not the best, but it has a certain something.
