Not really. She gets thrown in a basement but Subaru brings her plush toys to play with which she loves. She gets a bigger role in arc 6 where she joins the good guys for good.

The LN is fine up till vol 9. Then it goes to shit

I didn't feel anything. Tons of things happened, and the scenes clearly try to make the watcher emotional, but they didn't work at all.

1) Beatrice wanting to die.
Sure would be nice if this was evident in any way before now. For one so obsessed with death she never tried dealing or directly asking Subaru before this point. Her gospel and all that bullshit makes things more confusing and adds nothing. You could remove it from the story and nothing would change.
2) The reveal of the beast summmoner.
Would be nice if she was a genuine character instead of yet another heartless hired assassin like Elsa. She's more of a plot device than a character. Subaru not wanting to kill her was ridiculous.
3) Emilia breaking.
We didn't even see it happen. The events all occurred offscreen. It feels jarring and makes no sense.
4) The reveal that Roswaal is insane and planned everything is diminished by the fact he was just following his magic book. He doesn't have agency nor logic, since every random actions (like making it fucking snow) is ordained by the plot. Just like the assassins he's not a character, he's a plot device meant to make Subaru suffer.

In an alternative world this episode would be amazing and really emotional. It's not, because this season has been horrendously written.

I was confused here. I thought it's pretty much implied she told him she loves him in S1. Or was it "I need time to think"? I don't remember. Either way she didn't reject him.

The reason Subaru knows she's fucked now is because she suddenly jumped to loving him and not needing or wanting anything else.

If you think of any this arc's events have been foreshadowed or built upon previous one, you have dementia. This show is written by random plot-convenient events happening out of nowhere and then magical explanations being invented for them afterwards. You'd only thing this was a good story if this is the only piece of fiction you've ever consumed.
