Yes, that was it. I also remember that in the gba game it blew it's arms off, but if the hit landed, it took out a full body part, so a good hit on the head was an instant k-o.

Honestly I barely remember it but it was one of the earlier anime I watched. Alongside shit like Flint the Time Detective and Monster Rancher. Good times.

was like a kid watching on saturday morning, at first I had to sit through two blocks of random shows that included medabots, fighting fooddons, and I think shaman king to just be able to watch some shows I really wanted like yu-gi-oh, pokemon, etc. the classics.
I kind of didn't pay much attention, but noticed that they kept bringing up reruns of medabots during the week as well after school. Me and my family were kind of poor, so we didn't have cable so I could only really spend like 3-5pm watching just continued blocks of medabots, power rangers, and I think it was something else like reruns of something dumb like I think double dragon. I paid more attention to medabots compared to the other shows and I started to not place it as a pokemon-clone, but actually enjoyed the story, characters, etc. I probably would watch now just on nostalgia alone.

Yeah, I liked it. Had seen most of the episodes when they aired in my country, but went and downloaded it anyway because I wanted to see the whole thing, and in Japanese. The episode directed by Imaishi Hiroyuki was pretty based.
The RPG for the GBA was fun as well. A bit linear but I'm a sucker for games with buildable/interchangeable robots.

it did look like a pokemon clone on the surface, it has all the ingredients for it with the various medabots and parts. But I felt like it really had a lot of soul put into it. there's some extraordinarily well animated scenes for a show like this.

I saw it in the dutch dub, which suffers from craming too much dialog into a small timespan or filling dead air, but it feels like every other version I can find is worse. Im sure part of that is that I remember the dutch voices but it puts it a bit of an awkward spot for rewatching

The Dutch dub was pretty decent, I don't remember there being too much dialog, but I guess I was too young to notice.

Yeah, I remember there being an online robot fighting game heavily "inspired" by medabots after it came out. It was pretty fun.

theres were other shows at the time, I suspect by the same company, doing dubs aswell. its a different style from what shows like pokemon had.
