Right so I just started this shit recently and I have a few questions:
Why did Reinhard not blame Oberstein for Kircheis's death at all? If Oberstein didn't insist on Kircheis receiving normal treatment than he could've had his weapon and not get fucking KEELHAULED.
and secondly: The start to season 2 is not looking good. First episode is clearly biased towards the Alliance (Empire are made to look like incompetent fools) and it's all about flashy action and SHIT. And the second episode has Reinhard being a complete dick for no reason. Should I continue watching?
Right so I just started this shit recently and I have a few questions:
All anime has bad writing.
Yeah but
Because it was still Reinhard who made the decision in the end. Oberstein pushed for it but nothing would have happened if Reinhard hadn't agreed to it.
Literally pic related
Exactly this. A leader can't make a bad decision then reprimand his subordinates for suggesting that decision.
Reinhard had no idea what he was doing half the time.
On that season 2 drop in quality there's also this. Top is the last episode of s1 and the bottom is the second episode of s2.
I may be wrong but it's to do with your source material. You're probably watching the Central Anime pack.
They had dvd sources from S1 which were based from the VHS release of the series (the VHS release fixed some. If the major glaring quality issues of the TV release) , but S2 never got a VHS release except for some shitty Lazer disk that nobody found, so they had to source it from TV rips and the occasional garbage early 2000s TV series re-release.
I see. I can forgive the visuals then but the writing issues for S2 I said in the OP still apply. I just don't want to watch what was looking to be perfection slowly deteriorate into filth, y'know. I already did that with JoJo's :^)

fuck off
2nd and 3rd seasons are the best, keep watching.
If you're wrong I will bully you
>Why did Reinhard not blame Oberstein for Kircheis's death at all?
Because Oberstein didn't do anything wrong.
It's an intriguing, fun and generally well-crafted show. Don't expect an absolute masterpiece though like some people shill it out to be. It has its moments of questionable writing and the themes it shills out as doing some grand dissertation on are only touched upon in a shallow and somewhat pretentious way. With that being said, the show is still great so I do recommend you to continue watching it.
>streaming
he should have blamed security
You should keep watching but stop taking so many dicks up your ass
>These casuals aren't watching the the 80s one
Oh my god
>(Empire are made to look like incompetent fools)
Because they ARE incompetent fools at that point in the story.
That's one of the biggest themes, that nations aren't black-and-white, unchanging monoliths. They are constantly changing, and their future is directly dependent upon the actions of those brave/competent enough to stand and lead.
Now get off of Zig Forums before I or someone else spoils everything for real, and go enjoy literally the best anime of all time. You might even go back and watch the whole thing again, like I did earlier this year.
Do the originals still exist?
Tbh Reinharto sama probably felt relieved a bit too, after all Kircheis was the better part of his morality.
The series progressively builds better and better I forget which eps season 2 is but once the war picks up the show exponentially gets better. Different arcs paint the sides in better/worse arcs too so don’t worry about the empire being shit after certain key plot developments it becomes VERY interesting.
What an amazing piece of shit you are.
Libertarian and Church factions were the biggest wastes of potential in the entire show.
> Can fully brainwash, create realistic doppelgangers and induce fucking brain cancer on people
> Integrated fully in both societies so that a reprisal would make interesting issues about religious freedom and terrorism
>Suddenly become fucking retarded and have the HEAD of the religion personally lead an attack on the emperor and fail completely because of some "terrorism doesnt work" trueism spouted by the author's mouthpiece.
This.
Reinhard's not above criticizing people he's given an imperium but that's different from criticizing people for giving him advice he himself has implemented.
You can torrent the laserdisc rips. They are the only way to view the original ova and they cover the entire series. The dvd and bd are pretty much identical, they're both from the same "master".
It's by far the worst thread in all the novels. Totally unnecessary too. Once Space Venice and the FPA got annexed the Terrarists still would have existed, they still would have accomplished nothing, and so they still would have fulfilled the authors allegorical point about terrorism going nowhere. They didn't have to be forced into such a hackneyed conclusion.
The premise of the Terraists benefiting under a centralized structure is also completely wrong because unless the monarch actively endorsed the religion himself, it would likely be eradicated with prejudice.
That was the fate of minority religions in tons of different places that was at odds with the sovereign, and with the shit that they were pulling against Reinhardt, there was no way the monarchy was going to tolerate the Terraists.
They should have sponsored the FPA and taken over like a parasitic zombie because free governments are unwilling to curb down on freedom of religion. The economic leverage that they had is also super dubious when its used on a king that could just clear his own debts, as it was done with monarchs emptying the treasury on shitty wars and not giving a fuck after.
>Why did Reinhard not blame Oberstein
Blaming Oberstein is counterproductive in a lot of ways. Mostly because of the imminent power struggle between Lichtenrade and Reinhard, for which Oberstein is the point guy. But it did strain his relationship with Reinhard. Reinhard gave up the opportunity to take on the highest military office in the Empire to bail Oberstein out and conversely Oberstein saved Annerose's life in one of the gaiden stories. There was potential for Reinhard and Oberstein to become as close as Reinhard ended up becoming with Mitteymeyer. But instead what ends up happening is Oberstein becomes somewhat suicidal and Reinhard ended up keeping Oberstein at arm's length.
>Suddenly become fucking retarded and have the HEAD of the religion personally lead an attack on the emperor and fail completely because of some "terrorism doesnt work" trueism spouted by the author's mouthpiece.
I like how Yang says that terrorism doesn't work and [then gets his pants soaked in tomato juice during a terror attack.
The head of the Church was there for the same reason the head of the Iserlohn Republic was in the Brunhild boarding party. To negotiate a truce and to barter for a place for his ideology in Reinhard's galaxy. You'll remember that Oberstein had these people convinced that Reinhard was planning to nuke Earth, their object of worship, into oblivion. After a long campaign that first pushed the Earth Cult into illegality and then all repressed it into near non-existence.
Because, and this comes up later, like the nuking of Westerland, the blame falls solely on Reinhard's inaction.
>First episode is clearly biased towards the Alliance (Empire are made to look like incompetent fools)
I only finished watching recently, and watch the whole thing over the course of two months, but shouldn't the alliance still be in the midst of a coup where you are? Alliance incompetence is a pretty overarching theme throughout the series.
Alliance is only super incompetent when it's ahead. They're high quality underdogs.
