pic unrelated?

dai as a show hasn't aged well, its actually pretty boring at times. looking forward to the remake

Pic related, as in what's up with the excessive compositing in modern anime. Digimon 2020 look great without it.

The new digimon is soulless as fuck.

It's only soulless from a writing standpoint. It's full of soul otherwise.

I dropped the digimon remake after 3 episodes waiting draquest since story is epic and a proper remake (same old anime with improved animation as remake should be)

Doesn't have what made it a classic even digimon tri had that 90s spirit from old digimon but the remake nope

These look amazing compared to the new Shaman King Remake

Digimons remake is ruined by bland music

Digimon 2020 was a complete dissapointment
>terrible pacing
>zero character everyone feels bland as hell
>no emotional impact of any kind
>no build up to anything and lore is weak
>digiworld lack the mysterious feel

Digimon has composite, it is just good at hiding itself.

Op here. This is sadly true

Is there a remake that is just as, if not better?

Mahoujin GuruGuru

Yeah, good compositing is just hard to notice.

Yeah compare metal grey evolution of 1999 and 2020. 2020 is so bad it's only Saving grace is it's comparatively better animation.

Is Dai aired yet?

Since we are talking about digimon here. I was rewatching original 1999 anime and i noticed the animation and art of 21st episode is on another level compared to rest of the episodes. Usually only first episode of any lenghty anime has top notch animation and rest of the episodes are botched but 21th episode has best animation and feels almost like a movie.

Good eye.
That was probably done to put emphasis on the fact that the real world and the digital world are different. Other than a few minutes of the first episode and a few flashbacks before episode 21, the audience doesn't get to see the real world. After seeing that episode, even if the art does return to normal later, you remain conditioned into seeing the real world there differently.
Studios used to sneak ova or even movie tier episodes in regular shows back in the 80s and the 90s. Some examples I've noticed recently include episode fourty-something of patlabor (dream sequence), episode fourty-something of you're under arrest (beach episode) and like, every 20th or 30th episode of urusei yatsura.

october i think

Yes you are right it has to be intentional because thematically it didn't even feel like it belonged to the same show like rest of the episodes.

I'm sure you love that really dated as fuck CGI that makes eyes bleed

That's just Hosoda being Hosoda. His Doremi and Nadja episodes are also standouts, though the contrast isn't nearly as stark as in Digimon.

>He thinks what mattered in Digimon was the animation and not everything else.

The remake is the opposite of that. I'm not sure the tradeof was worth it

I was talking about the build up towards Metal Greymon n 1999. Animation wise 2020 is superior but just like the other user said it's about characters and story.
And yeah i still get a boner from CGI evolution sequence.

Honestly BRAVE HEART + that Kino voice acting makes up for the primitive CGi

Definitely. I can listen to BH for the millionth time and still feel the guitar riff everytime. Maybe it's just nostalgia who cares, just love everything about 1999.

? what's bad about it
>Inb4 old good new bad

I've seen the criticisms and it's mostly "it looks generic"

Reality seems to disagree.
