Can we talk about how good this manga is. i have read this for the fist time a few days ago and just finished reading it today. i really really really like it. despite its age it somehow holds up real great. and the characters got fleshed out in through outreading it. sure itt has some flaws but still really really top tier for me.

A great manga, but Fist of the Blue Sky is slightly better for me.
hey op here, well its not faair to call what they like to be shit. different tastes for everyone i guess user.
>Fist of the Blue Sky
iis that the prequel manga user ? i might have to read that soon !
It's good but I don't think it's as good as you say it is. It's kung fu mad max and he travel from one bullied group of people to another and deliver some one-liners, and old-fashioned ass kicking. It's B-movie with Hara's gorgeous art, and it's likeable for what it is. No more.
Sadly manga of this kind is sorely missing in the Jump line up for years. Toriko tried to fill that niche but it was honestly quite meh.
Raoh is still one of the best villains of all time imo.
It's a mixed bag for me. The story is stupidly basic and predictable, but it's told pretty well, and all the astrology/destiny shit is painfully stupid on one hand, but on the other hand it's executed so well that it gives the story mythic proportions at its best. The art is great, of course. The fights are dramatic, but not very good compared to many other martial arts manga, but then again they're mostly symbolic in nature.
Based and no regrets pilled.
It's the ultimate rule of cool manly manga
also watch the anime too, obviously it doesn't do the manga art justice but it's still fun, it has some alright filler too especially at the beginning that gives Shin a bit more presence and it has a great OST

Hot take: Kenshiro is much cooler than any of the Jojos
I cried when Rei died, what a beautiful death.
not a hot take
The art is phenomenal.
It's pretty great up to Raoh's death. After that it stumbles a lot.
I didn't like Fist of the Blue Sky very much; it's too much like a telenovela rather than a martial arts story, only the final arc being on par with a FOTNS arc.
Easily
The only hot take is you considering that a hot take.
This. I got surprisingly emotional reading/watching some of the arcs and fights (Toki vs. Raoh is the best). The underlying ideas about fate in a time of extreme human struggle give it a sense of mythic artistry that this person described. The manga art is great and although the anime looks worse, it has a solid soundtrack, voice-acting, and dramatic execution. On the other hand, much of FOTNS is really cliché, and it never really deviates from the pattern it sets out. Eventually, especially in FOTN2, it starts to feel worn out. Kaioh is basically Souther's arc in Raoh's body, for example. I feel like it does a few things really well, but is a bit of a one-trick-pony.
I had low expectations but I found it to be very well made, the characters were all pretty cool and you actually cared about them. It didn't devolve into retarded beam spams so I guess that's a minus? It's much better than the majority of battle shonen out there.
This is my favorite theme of the anime, especially as kind of leitmotif for Toki (although it is used in other places, including I think Rei's death). The Japanese means "Theme of Extermination."
Jagi did nothing wrong
What a weird way to spell Yuda.
hot take: all of the jojos are cooler than kenshiro
Kenishiro is a badass, but that's basically his only trait. He is a blank slate. Toki was a better man in every way, but that was his downfall. Even Raoh is more interesting, interesting enough to get his own anime spin-off.
I love both the manga and the anime. Fuckers who hate on it for Kenshiro being a boring and indestructible mc, never made it past the Shin arc.
I bought this whole series for $100 thinking it would have furagana but it doesn't its just sitting on my shelf rn and I've only actually read a few pages in.
Would Kenshiro and Jonathan be study buddies?
I love it, it has been far surpassed by a lot of manga, but you can still feel how influential it still is.
It's one of the few instances where I can tolerate the whole MCWINSLMAO. It's tragic, and not in the whole "we live in a society" way, but more of a the world really went to shit and could use a savior.
should i anime or manga?
manga, anime quality isn't that good
adding to that, I got into it thanks to the anime, however, I don't think it's a good starting point nowadays
voicework is fantastic, though, same as the soundtrack
hey user O here. i startedd with tthe manga. i would probably get to the anime soon and the movies. some of the OVAs looks cool too.
same here user.
thats really cool user! you should really read it. the art is really good for something made in the 80's. i really like the fights especially when kenshiro is just beating the shit out of grunts lol. i hope you have a ffun tim reading it user.
