What does Zig Forums think about live action anime/manga? More and more series are getting live action movies and tv dramas. What series would you wanna see in live action?

Bump

some are good like the rurouni kenshin and Yokokuhan

Haven't seen ruroni Kenshin. I plan on watching yokokuhan soon. Museum killer singing in the rain was pretty decent. Bleach was surprisingly decent. Gintama was cringe to see gintama in real life but fairly faithful. Ass class was cringe the pacing was shit and the comedy fell extremely flat. Saiki k was good and funny. Kaiji was great. The Fable was great.

I mostly watch movies. Dramas are too long and at that point I feel I might as well just watch the anime or read the manga. Japanese acting overall can be pretty cringe so I'd rather get it over with in 2 hours vs extended periods of time. Although I will say I'm a few episodes away from finishing GTO 1998 and while it's bizarre seeing these situations in real life and a lot of the acting is shit especially by the students GTO's actor is the reason to watch and saves the show. Ironic that he and fuyutsuki actress got married in real life after the show

It's alright, but how you gonna do my boy Takeo like this? I sincerely doubt you have a seven foot tall actor, built like a brick shithouse, diving out of windows and shit.
Some shows just shouldn't be made live action.

Watch Watashitachi wa douka shiteiru

>I sincerely doubt you have a seven foot tall actor, built like a brick shithouse, diving out of windows and shit.
I'm sure that shit is way less difficult to figure out than even your average sentai series. Give them some credit user.

I hate when they try to simply immitate the style of the anime.
Anime is good because it's anime. Making live action anime simply doesn't work and never will because they aren't drawings.

I remember BECK being pretty good and Yamato was at least decent.

This. If a live action adaptation tries to imitate the style of the anime/manga 100% it will end up looking like something a bunch of cosplaying fans did for a youtubr video. Of course the adaptations shouldn't pull off something that is so different from the source material that it could practically be considered 2 different things. It is called an ADAPTATION for a reason, and adaptations don't need to be 100% same as the source material (only in the case of live action though). That's why live action jap movies never really clicked with me, and don't even get me started on hollywood attempts of adapting japanese source material.

Spy x family, chainsawman, and meiruko chan would be fun in live action. Spy x family is probably the easiest to produce.

>meiruko chan
Wouldn't they need cgi for all of the monsters anyway

I'm hyped for the live action Tonkatsu DJ Agetaro, even though i know this movie is gonna be very different from the manga/anime, I just hope Yujiro will release some more merch with the release of the movie.

Instead of trying to emulate how dumb manga and anime look in real life they should stop. Just cast normal people that can act. Style their hair or whatever so that it kind of looks similar, but any adaptation I've seen has always been exaggerated shit as they try to exactly replicate the insanity that can only be drawn.

The absolutely shittiest of shit taste

damn they made a live action of this? I might have to watch. it figures that they couldn't find a guy unattractive enough to play MC. that guy not even tv ugly, he's actually really fuckin' handsome. but he probably considered weird in japan for not looking like a bitch.

this man ain't lyin'

>Making live action anime simply doesn't work and never will
>Proceeds to name adaptations he liked

I don't remember a single character saying in-universe that Takeo was ugly, just scary.

Kingdom live action was good.

The Promised Neverland is going to get 2 live actions. One with a full Japanese cast and the other with an American cast.

Also the fact that all of their costumes always look like bargain bin sets out of a party city. Fucking hire someone that knows how to make quality clothes, jesus christ.

Rarely good

The brows and even the hair could be make-up/wig

I know this is an old sentiment and gonna sound offensive but after watching a few of these a lot of Japanese actors actually do look alike to me. I can't tell them apart

Yeah some of those amateur cosplayer tier clothes really do stick out like sore thumb.

They should adapt more grounded shit instead of doing shit that requires a ton of cgi. Museum killer singing in the rain was actually pretty good and the fable was great.

The parasyte live actions were pretty great

Yeah, there are plenty of grounded series that would actually adapt well into live action series. But somehow they chose stuff like Bleach instead.

Trying to turn live action into anime doesn't work.
Of course you can adapt a story from an anime and make it work in live action.

It almost always sucks because they basically try to act and overemote like they're animated characters and it just winds up being really bad, embarassing and guts out anything that made the original work memorable.

>It almost always sucks because they basically try to act and overemote like they're animated characters
I think that's just Japanese acting.

How bad is the Gintama live action? Actors seem fine but the comedy doesn’t feel like it would work.
