Naruto is a gateway anime of the worst kind. It's a bad series, a clusterfuck of story and characterization that isn't very well done by any aspect, but which attempts to compensate for its weaknesses by adding in excessive shipping faggotry and DARKNESS. The normal user can see this as the shit it is, and may enjoy it, hate it or be indifferent to it, but all the while recognizing that the series itself, regardless of their opinion, is plain bad. However, these very aspects that try to smear over the shit of its core make it a breeding ground for aspie, unsociable underageb& faggots who engage in every kind of faggotry both online and in the real world. The superpowered characters all trying their hardest to look cool, the jutsus, peculiar, colorful clothes, the whole ninja faggotry and everything about the Naruto world fuels their escapist fantasies, while the pity-party character backgrounds, emphasis on revenge, and overall preachiness of the series make it fit just right with the mary-sueish drives of your average preteen and his sense of unwarranted self-importance towards the world. Exactly the kind of shit that makes little kiddies and underageb& retards eat this shit right the fuck up. Naruto is basically THE series to attract the most hated anime fanbase known to Zig Forums, which is why, regardless of individual opinions, it is the responsibility of every user to troll the fuck out of this show and everyone who likes it, and ensure that no Naruto threads ever encourage the newfriends to show their faces here. That being said, AB is really great, but Nyaa.eu and BakaBT are easier to get into.

It made the thing even more retarded, you couldn't even take it through the Brutus angle, of a kind man reluctantly killing his best friend or parent for the greater good, because honestly he basically committed a genocide for a pretty vague reason assuming that the Uchiha coup would create more death or something.
Kishi even retconned the retcon he previously made, because honestly the excuse that Uchiha's were cunts was pretty weak, especially when he killed cake baking grandma, shoe makers and children, so he made Obito help him.
He even had his own parent tell the audience "We don't really care about dying, quite frankly Itachi is nice guy, you should root for him".
At the end of the day when your character is a guy that mercilessly slaughter children and his own parents by his own will, you just can't make him a good guy retroactively.

Their weak ass excuse was that a coup would make them weak, allowing other nations to invade them. But take a look at this:
1. They didn’t get invaded after the Kyubi attack when Minato got killed.
2. They didn’t get invaded after the Sound/Sand attack when Hiruzen got killed.
3. They didn’t get invaded after Pain nuked the village even though they were probably at their weakest moment.
And I’m supposed to believe a coup that would result in the death of Hiruzen some of his bodyguards would cause an international invasion? Lmao

The entire flashback for Sasuke leading up to Itachi's betrayal in Part 1 made it extremely clear that the Uchiha's were planning something shady and had issues with the village leadership and wanted Itachi in on it. They were also heavily sus of Itachi for joining Anbu, despite wanting him as "their man on the inside" and tensions then reached a peak after Itachi killed his bff yet claimed he wasn't the imposter. Maybe him being a good boi was a retcon, but it was very clearly set up from the start that Itachi did it under Anbu/Government orders as part of some top secret shadow op, with evidence point to the reasoning being a potential Uchiha clan contention with Konoha officials.
