Pre-2000's Anime

Let's discuss shows from years before the turn of the millenium (or some that lasted long enough to see that turn while still being 90's series).

Let's also discuss, why not? Those days of the anime fandom, trading and copying VHSs, the old cons, having to download anime at 240p through IRC via peer to peer, the advent of torrent and trackers to the community and the like.

This isn't love.

I've been looking for a site with good retro references for a while, I know of some tumblr blogs and Twitter pages but nothing like a proper site with it.
Anyone got anything?

Gonna quote an user from a previous thread:
>"The blog "animarchive" is my favorite. "oldtypenewtype" is also a gem. They post old Newtype articles with lots of lost official art, often come with translations.
Literally the only reason why I use that shit website."

That website beingTumblr

Holy shit she's cute AF, what's the sauce, user?

Those are the ones I know already. Animarchive also has a twitter page.
I was thinking more of a site like those early internet ones, but more of a gallery.

VHS is a bit old for me but i remember buying those Dragon Ball and Saint Seiya DVDs that came with no cuts, no format. Just 40+ hours of one episode after the other. Then making copies and then exchanging them at school.
Am I too young?

I forget if azumango was '99 or '00, and I'm too lazy to check.

'99. but the anime is from 2002 and I love it so much

It takes place in the 90's, honorary exception

Nah, it was doable in the early 00's

Ferris is a qt

One thing I liked about older releases, DVDs and such, was that they usually came with interviews, character sheets, and other omake. I know this is dipping into 00s territory quite a bit, but it's still something you don't see on blu rays anymore, and I think there's less charm in that.

00's releases of 90's anime are fair game.
The Slayers VHS and DVD releases usually came with nifty shit.

Can we also discuss old anime fansites and shrines? It hurts when links and such are dead. What sort of weird, late 90's fangirlism lied beyond that Brock shrine link, I wonder...?

Man, it saddens me it became so forgotten...

Any of you guys watch the 1969 Dororo? It was pretty good imo. Interesting to compare it to the recent remake anyway. I'm not sure which is closer to the original manga but they were both somewhat different.

No, but I've read the manga years ago. I remember really liking it but it had a non-ending that put me insane

I wonder where are they now? I wonder if they hate the medium now?
