Uzumaki was lovecraftian horror.

In some ways Japan's non-horror creations have already become that terrifying.

Eh, body horror is part of Lovecraft, but not the defining characteristic.

Quite impossible as Lovecraft's horror is mainly driven by metaphors for the things that he fears. Namely inferior races, half breeds, existential dread, people who are more successful, and even air conditioners

Lovecraft is the amalgamation of a giant pussy and a literary expert.

It's hard to top him without being an even more pathetic of a cunt

the best lovecraft story is the one where this guy finds out his family was cursed by a dickass wizard to always die when they hit some age and there's this big desperate attempt to find a way to break the curse only for it to turn out the wizard was just breaking into their homes and murdering them the old fashioned way.

the one howard wrote about how ir conditioners made him paranoid they'd be used by zombies to keep their corpse-bodies fresh was also pretty good

lol
What's the title of that wizard one? Haven't read it.
I do believe that Innsmouth is his best work because holy fuck. It was gushing in racism and pure loathing over the fact that people can appetite going race mixing.

I was told he wrote it precisely after being traumatized of finding out that he has an Indian ancestry. What a pathetic cunt

AHHHHH KUROMAN SAMA HELP

>lovecraft
>terrifying
not enough onionfaced wojaks in the world

i like lovecraft a lot but constantly praising him as the be-all and end-all of horror is so reddit

Is this picture supposed to convey the terror of Lovecraftian mythos? Damn, a giant tentacle monster thing in the sea, it's not like the kraken folklore predates that by a few centuries or anything.

i actually agree. they never died or anything. just became something new.

Nah, man
He definitely is ahead of his time. Horror at his time were often hack and slash thrillers and he wrote a letter condeming Weird Tales for those nonsensical horrors that stops being scary after you closed the book.

Hell, Lovecraft literally started his own school of thought called Cosmicism

Nigga has a LOT of insecuries on his shoulders

Lovecraft was never terrifying . He made some interesting allusions and stuff but thats it.

>and even air conditioners
Korean anime is a thing now

>I TURNED MYSELF INTO A REAL GIRL MORTY

>Namely inferior races,
Reminder that this doesn't just include muh blacks but also the welsh, the irish, and italians.

I don't know if it was the prose or whatever, very short story but Nyarlathotep gets to me, especially today.

Some already have, Evangelion comes to mind.

>oh no looking at it is making me go insane
if they outsourced even more we might get that level of QUALITY. won't be long.

Mieruko chan's monsters are scarier than lovecraft, but their story is boring.

Yes. It will happen the day that Saya no Uta gets adapted into an anime. Seriously anons, check this shit out. It's written by Urobutcher, and is one of the most dark and intense things I've ever read.

Innsmouth is good, but my favorite is the Dunwich Horror.

Uzaki-chan is as terrifying

OOOOHHH NOT THE PURPLE LIGHT AND TENTACLES
I AM GOING INSANE

Urasekai LNs were pretty spooky and trippy enough for me

Based

People who draw shit like this don't understand that the entire idea of the old gods is that they are incomprehensible beings
Your mind would not be able to comprehend what you're looking at and would be driven to madness
It's like if a 4th dimensional shape suddenly appeared in our universe, it wouldn't make any sense

you never read uzamaki huh

You are correct but at the same time wrong
Cthulhu is a priest for the Great Old Ones and many layers below the Old Gods

Secondly, he is famous precisely because, unlike Azathoth and Shub Niggurath, his image was actually made concrete and not out of methaphors

Draco was the first cosmic diety to have an actual discernable image however, he hardly appeared on the story
On the other hand, Madness of Cthulhu featured a scene where one of the cast literally rammed a boat into the Great Old One's head and split it so bad he fell back to sleep

Guy went insane of course and Cthulhu is going to rise again

>Niggurath
>Nigger wrath

Japan fucks with this stuff all the time, they do it in their own way which I don't mind really it's not hurting anyone

I never found Lovecraft terrifying. I just like the lore.
