The problem here is that, It's impossible to like or feel even remotely threatened by the villain when the writer completely ignores most of the op powers the characters have. Naruto uses two regular rasengans, some of his chakra hands, and like 5 (lol) shadow clones and Sasuke 1 chidori, 2 teleportations, and a sword swipe. Motherfucker, was about to die by a REGULAR sword that was his own. It's not like he has PERFECT, FUCKING, SUSANOO or anything right? What a joke.

There is obviously a rule that Otsutsuki cannot kill one another without permission from their clan authority and that includes their vessels.
Kaguya broke this rule trying to kill Isshiki and she went mad not to mention having the whole clan set on punishing her with likely a fate worse than death which she ended up getting anyway.
If Otsutsuki do pay a heavy price for killing one another then it would only make sense that Isshiki plays ball with Boruto rather than killing him.
They can explore that for some interesting results.
