If a company does something you don't like, you can refuse to support them and take your business somewhere else. Is this a recent thing? Because I thought there was at least some period of time where anime releases moved on from the early 00s daytime TV anime censorship (though plenty of those had unedited home releases) but now it seems like all the time there's news about Funimation or some other companies making the only US release of an anime censored. They do know that it's very easy to pirate anime right? The biggest problem is the subs since the fansub scene isn't as big these days but if they're just censoring nipples or whatever the subs should still be fine to rip and put on uncensored raws.
Comparing anime treatment to movie treatment isn't really helpful.
I accidentally bought the censored DVD of IGPX one time. But at least that series had both a censored and uncensored release. Though I remember what was airing on TV even to be pretty uncensored for TV at the time.

Honestly, a lot of the 4Kids censorship was mostly the localizers being unsure what would be allowed or not. TMNT (2003) was produced by 4Kids and it could get pretty brutal/horrifying
