what are your thoughts on the anime elfen lied

i think this anime was a true masterpiece

It was pretty good back when my opinions were pretty bad.

Lucy > Nyu

I think people have shat on it enough to where we can finally just chill out a bit and like it for what it is. There was a massive swing back after people started realizing they had bad taste for loving it or whatever and they wanted to cleanse themselves by insulting newfriends. It's good, it's fun and very memorable. Not a masterpiece but definitely something you should experience.

meh, anyone who obsesses over the anime, is new to the medium

Why did it have such a pretentious OP?

Nana is better than both of them

in what way is it pretentious?

>pedobait character that exists solely to beaten up and molested
>better than one of the most complex female characters in 00s anime
Really user?

It introduced me to the manga which was way better and was actually completed.

Every now and then I randomly think about Nana burning stacks of money to stay warm and I wish I didn't.

I unironically think the part about how he forgives her is brilliant and daring in a way. At least to my teenage self when I watched it it felt like it was challenging the audience to be a better person, which was surprising considering what most of the show is. Cathartic.

The entire series centers around the MC become more of a man. It's actually really good. Were it not for all the weird fetish shit would be great for growing teen boys to read.

Nana is the best part of the show.

>pedobait character who exists to be molested
Are you sure you don't mean Maya? Nana is a cute and pure beacon in a pretty dark show, the fact that she almost never sours her outlook on humanity (except for the times her DNA voice takes over) makes the whole show way more bright and more fun to get through.

Fuck off.
Best pure girl comin through.

what the fuck
that's it, that's my thoughts
it was alright, but just
what
and why

Remember when you have no imouto, itoko is your best choice.

Fun show, sadly taken too seriously by too many people

I don't like the hyperbole, but there's truth to this. And it's not just Lucy or Kouta. Given the admittedly ridiculous circumstances, most of the characters act and feel very relatable, and sometimes downright mature in a way you wouldn't expect from an anime aimed at teenagers.
The show's major flaw is that the hyperviolence and over the top presentation seems to distract a lot of people too much to see this. On the surface it is the most edgy shit imaginable, and that turns people away. Maybe it would have worked better as an 80s OVA.

Ehhh, I just liked the violence, gore and loli nipples.
Am I a brainlet?

We can't tell from how you interpreted one Chinese cartoon. However, if you, for instance, had no response to the scene described by at all, then you definitely didn't get everything elfen lied has to offer. Maybe that's because the you could never forgive someone like that and the resolution seems bs to you. Or maybe you're just dumb. How would I know?

I don’t like it

Nice, don't need to make a thread.
I've been watching this at last, it is the quintessential starter anime so I had to check it off eventually.
The premise and themes are deep and have potential, but the execution is god awful.

Like, I can feel bad for Lucy but she is comically homicidal.
Loads of shit is just nonsense like the entirety of the cousin romance stuff. And various random bits like the all the characters orbiting the doormat MC. Or the most recent bit I saw where the MC was completely unphased by Lucy attempting to strangle him out of the blue.

>most of the characters act and feel very relatable
Nothing about the cousin is remotely logical or relatable.

>The show's major flaw is that the hyperviolence and over the top presentation seems to distract a lot of people too much to see this.
The theme and premise requires precision to navigate and for execution, but the creators had all the subtlety of a sledgehammer.

Why did she lie?

trainwreck

>if you, for instance, had no response to the scene described by
The only thing that responded, was my peenus weenus.

Hard to imagine that the director of this crap would later direct the masterpiece that is Sora no Woto.

Didn't watch it, but I enjoyed the manga even if it's full of old cliché

Huh. Elfen Lied has a lot of problems, but the direction sure isn't one of them. He also did Denpa Teki Kanojo and Promised Neverland, he's fucking brilliant. Are you sure your problem is with the direction and not the writing?

Absolute trash

It gets more laughs out of me than "comedy" anime
