The statement of they're looking to adapt more of Kawahara's works give me hope even if it's still a slim chance of more Accel World
People do, personally I like it a lot more than SAO which is just dreadfully boring in comparison and on its own just plain bad

He grows on you, though as an LNfag I have to admit he's my least favorite POV character (and the series is like 70% his POV). But that's mostly due to him being written as "Dumb Audience Surrogate Guy" where literally every plot plot will be him going "Huh?" and Taku/Chiyu/KYH/Fuuko/EVERYONE-ELSE going "Naruhodo, so that's how it is. . ." followed by Haruyuki going "W-what do you mean by that. Please explain!" And now there is an excuse for exposition.

It made sense during the first few volumes where he was still learning the ropes, but dude is level 5 or 6 by now and its become a "Taku/Chiyu are smart and Haru is dumb" or "Lotus/Raker are experienced veterans and Haru is still caught off guard" gag.

But I'd say power through it anyway. It has 10/10 girls and the metaplot and worldbuilding between it and SAO are honestly pretty intriguing

So should I watch AW? Will it converge with SAO in the future? Reading LNfags talk about this is so confusing, with all these disparate arcs and side-stories and reboots.

You could but there's only one SAO reference in the anime, if you wanna go down the AW/SAO rabbit hole watch the first and only season and then read the LNs starting from vol.5

Upon watching Alicization, I've kind of realized that SAO as a whole is basically an exploration on psychological trauma, the steady automation of reality and transhumanism. The pretense of it being about games is just there to cover up its more sinister and honestly horrifying underlying themes.

She's an "AI" the same way Alice and Eugeo are "AI"s: An Artificial Fluctlight. So she's basically a human bean. Just a virtual one (originally) who was burned onto the brain of a newborn babby instead of installed in a robot and thus grew up essentially as a normal person. She knows what she is, but doesn't know where she came from or has any memories of being anything else then "herself" as a 15 year old Middle School girl
