The prologue of season two had John fighting with two powers, one of them electricity, so he will probably go on a rematch. We learned in the climax of S1 that he has either a limit to copied abilities or high tier abilities as he was unable to copy Barrier after copying Zeke’s, Reimi’s, Isen and Blyke.
Blyke is now either a high tier or getting there, so if they have a big rematch chances are John would be unable to copy his ability if copies others beforehand.
Sera still wants to help John in spite of him regressing into a piece of shit.

Those are all the plot points I remember regarding John (I’m excluding the Ember plot and Sera’s power recovery. I doubt she will get it back before the climax). Piece the above together and you get
1- they win the rematch
2- they lose the rematch, Sera comes and asswhoops him
3- Sera gets through to him, John nearly wins the rematch but changes his mind and purposefully loses
