Why does he force himself to live when it’s easier just to die? What does selfishly living to get revenge going to accomplish
Why does he force himself to live when it’s easier just to die...
Don't think about it too hard, it's for kids.
Guts knows that if he dies he's going to the Berserk equivalent of hell because of the brand.
I thought he lived to be with Casca
also true
He goes to hell, that's what a lot of people have forgotten since it was literally the chapters before the Golden Age arc like 30 years ago.
Remember the count and the first time we see Guts making a sad face? Yeah, that guy went to hell in place of his daughter, people sacrificed to the brand go to the infinite vortex.
That as well is why Griffith's choice isn't a simple
>He sacrificed men who were willing to die for him
because that was way beyond killing them.
He wants to plunge his sword into his twink boifwendo
Guts... LIVE
This is just LIVE bait isn't it?
based post
>hat does selfishly living to get revenge going to accomplish
Confirmed woman, it accomplishes revenge for all those Griffith betrayed and Guts. Long as you know they are dead before you die is satisfying. Better than dying knowing they are still alive and unpunished.
You must remember that if Guts dies, he will be guaranteed to spend the rest of eternity in the vortex of souls because of the brand. So what better way to avoid that then to continue living and find a way to kill Griffith and the god hand. Maybe he'll become a daemon if he succeeds or maybe he'll become immortal like skelly knight
Everyone else is wrong, although they're given the best answer they can under their own worldviews. But Guts doesn't share that worldview. His driving motivation is not to accept a lot of short term pain now in order to escape worse pain in the long term. If you seriously think this is his goal you are a moron or a liar.
Guts simply hates Griffith and wants revenge. Its that simple. He's a living, breathing rebellion against the shittiness of existence and he's going to fight the cosmic powers that uphold the twisted order of life until he is incapable of fighting anymore or until he wins.
Guts is based, be like Guts. But you know, metaphorically.
its not. struggling to survive no matter what comes easily to Guts. actually choosing to just die is something he lacks the strength to do
That brand that sends you to hell might play a small role in it. I mean I'm pretty sure having all of his friends die horrible deaths at the hands of monsters would motivate him to murder their demon asses, but the brand is a stick behind the stick.
I forget, back when Guts had a carrot, and the carrot wasn't "make Casca stop being retarded" or "save my old pal Griffith from prison", what was his motivation? Like his positive motivation, something not defined in preserving what he had or restoring that which was lost?
Are you talking about pre-eclispe? He had none. His motivation pre-band of hawks was literally just finding a family after being betrayed by his own family. Griffith took him in and he came to finally love the band of hawks. Then Griffith said some shit like "my only friends are my equals" and Guts left the hawks to try and build something for himself to become Griffith's equal. Then "save my old pal Griffith from prison", to "kill griffith" then to "make Casca stop being retarded", then Miura died and we never got the end of Beserk
He didn't really know. He had a lot of reflections about it during Golden Age and at some point realized that he was just aimlessly wandering from battlefield to battlefield, just surviving. When he left the Band of the Hawk it was because he didn't want to get subsumed into Griffith's dream, a desire which originally began out of admiration for Griffith, because he wanted to be Griffith's friend and Griffith would only be friends with a man who had his own dream and pursued it relentlessly like he was. When he left he didn't have a dream yet beyond that, but wanted to find one. So he just went around becoming stronger.
A more interesting question to me is why Griffith was so fixated on and fascinated by Guts. Even he doesn't seem to know.
>then Miura died
Don't say such things
if he dies he is going to spend eternity in a soul pit of hell so might as well fight it.
there are people who unironically think that, "griffith sending all of his friends to actual hell for eternity because of his own failures," was not a bad thing.
Its bad for them, not for Griffith.
newfag here. I've been really digging into berserk recently. any particular timelines to go through or skip over?
and griffith caused it, ergo, griffith did many things wrong.
read all of it.
you might as well seeing how the dreaded day when you catch up, you are going to be waiting a long ass time.
Nah just start at the beginning and read all of it.
you still don't get it
Griffith caused good for himself though, so he also did good.
post yfw you caught up to berserk and realized what everyone was talking about when it came to hiatuses.
by your logic, no one has ever done anything bad as long as they benefited themselves.
Yeah, that's the bare rule of life.
Tell me is there a greater feeling of revenge than stabbing a big ass sword in the man that raped your woman?
Stabbing said man repeatedly
He was born into that world, why else?
>Then the police found CP on Miura's pc
