They did Madoka Magica. The anime of all last decade which still holds a record for most awards for any anime tv series and Rebellion. It was said to have surpassed Eva before it even ended.

They need to finish adapting the Monogatari series. They should ignore everything else until they're caught up.

While I agree, the only time we need to start worrying is when we pass the 3 year mark which was the space between Bake and Nise.

I would still guess Itamura but Oishi now that he's finished Kizu might come back as the main director.
We're in an odd place at the moment because Oishi did Bake and Kizu which are stylistically different to Itamura's work which is now the Monogatari standard so we don't know if Oishi is coming back to take over the helm or if they'll stick with the standard and use Itamura again.
