I would prefer not to serve any of them, maybe Fugetsu. I'm only really picking Fugetsu because she's not been shown to be a terrible person, and she's not dead yet. Still the ones with the best chance of winning seem to be pretty bad, or dangerous to be part of their team. Sure Halkenburg isn't a bad guy, but his group seems particularly dangerous to be part of. Sure there is the option to be on team Woble because that's the group with a protagonist, but it hasn't exactly gone that great for them so far.

Yeah. Scanlations of Golden Wind were so poor that understanding the story was a task and once it got to King Crimson the abstractness of the power plus the existing scans/translation issues made understanding it difficult, which led to the 'uhhh what is King Crimson?' meme on message boards.
Once the scans got better and the anime came out, the issues disappeared. It's just a persistent meme now.
