Why does it often feel like every single re:zero episode is divided into two parts, 2/3s of the episode which are boring and sometimes awful and 1/3 that's incredibly entertaining, when I mention fractions of an episode I'm not talking about cumulative quality but rather on well either get the first 8 minutes being great and the rest of the 16 minutes being bad, or vice versa

There is no rhyme or reason to what type of scene will end up belonging to the 1/3, sometimes its the fights that are good but other times its the fights which drag the episode down

Why is Re:zero like that?
Is it due to the director of the anime or is it an instritic factor of the story and how return by death is meant to work?

Every episode is made up of multiple LN chapters, so sometimes the director will decide to rush through one chapter and then pull out all the stops for another. Plus they seem to really love ending each episode on cliffhangers so sometimes the cliffhanger will be good while other times the resolution in the beginning of the next ep will be good. While reading the WN I thought most chapters were generally good all the way through, although it is a bit slower
