To get back home, MC finds out they have to fight their way through a hostile region full of bug aliens who kill people by sucking up their ero energy, turning them into autistic incels.

MC was a seaman of a dying merchant navy corp, when the cargo ship he was on was bombed by USA world police while they were fighting somalian pirates. Surviving the incident,he floated on a lifesaver until he was picked up by The Flying Dutchman. Choosing to become a crewman instead of dying, he ended up sailing to SINGAPORE as Daval Jones(le fem captain) was looking for Jack Robina to get her to pay dubs. While Daval and crew disembarked to hunt down Jack, he was forced to stay on board to keep watch. Days turned into weeks, and there was no sigh of the Daval coming back .He eventually struck up a relationship with an octopussy grill, who turned out to be the daughteru of Shoggoth, a shapeshifting monster. He nicknamed her Derpina as she was nameless.
On SINGAPORE, Daval and Jack found each other and decided to settle their dubs with a high stakes gambling duel, where Jack won. But since winning meant Jack had to take over The Flying Dutchman(Daval's CUNNING PLAN all along as she was looking to retire from the cursed ship) and become the next capitan, she sold everything including her soul to Shoggoth who happens to be chilling out on the pirate hideout.
Shoggoth went to the Flying Dutchman to claim it and found MC wrapped up in Derpina's tentacles. Outraged, he kicked him off his ship, giving him back his freedumz. Unable to forget the touch of Derpina's slimy tentacles, MC somehow sneaks back on board and kidnaps Derpina and they live slimily ever after... NOT.
Epilogue: Derpina was in fact a chopped off tentacle of Shoggoth who gained sentience. Over time, she loses her own will, turned into a mindless monster and drifted into the sea to rejoin her "father"/mainbody. Depressed MC hanged around on top of trees and refused to come down. He evolves into an Orang Utan.

> Gets signed to drive in F2, loses the championship in the last race because of an Engine failure
> Gets signed to drive in F1, but is stuck at the worst constructor in the championship
> Gets signed to one of the top teams, struggles against one of the best drivers in F1, and gets dropped
> Able to get a drive back with his old team, and leads the team to a Championship through a new set of regulations and some other worldly driving (though this could take multiple seasons if necessary)
Of note, everyone will have some real world parallels. I intend for this driver to be the only Japanese driver in the series after his Formula Super campaign. I also intend to keep him in contact with his high school sweetheart, maybe even marrying her at some point on a return trip back to Japan. If the series gets cancelled at any point before a satisfactory conclusion, you can kill the MC in a race. I would intend to replicate a real F2 crash that killed a driver in this series, and keep the danger of dying behind the wheel a very real possibility. And most importantly, he's going to clinch his F1 title at the Japanese Grand Prix.

Mecha fighting is a popular televised sport treated as a cross between martial arts and formula 1, with each team having a competitor that fights one on one with an opponent as well as a supporting staff. Two best friends (deuteragonists) work together on a team to win a mecha fighting championship. One is the pilot and one is the head of the pit crew and in charge of modifying/maintaining the mech. The story centers around their rise from nobodies with a dream to the top of the world in a sports anime style.

Both MCs would get equal focus, and they would be written to be extremely contrasting each other in personality. There would be a heavy emphasis on what happens outside of the matches. Upgrading and maintaining the mech, using it to do oddjobs in order to make money, gathering information on other teams, striking deals for sponsorships, practicing and testing, etc would be emphasized just as much as the battles themselves. There would be a wider support staff with more characters as part of the team of course. The relationship between the two main characters would be expressed throughout their matches and their character development would be shown visually through improvements to the machine and how they are used. There could be drama, love triangles, old hang ups, etc that may end up challenging both their personal and professional relationship that they must overcome to become the best.

I can consider that. Granted, I do want something there that isn't strictly racing related, because F1 and the other various European Motorsports in normal circumstances tend to have around 2-3 weeks between races. If I don't have a concrete subplot, the chapters between races would basically be Komi San drivers except with an awkward F1 driver.

So of those 3, I think Motorcycles probably are the most like for like thing in terms of being able to show concise races with realistic numbers of fans because lets face it, GT races are practically dead except for maybe 2-3 events per year, and Rally is a really difficult sport to show spectators and fans. With that said, I also think one thing that makes F1 interesting is the fact the sport is about constructing the best car as much as anything, so you have a level of intrigue and politics on the back end of F1 races that simply doesn't exist to the same degree as you would have in either Rally, GT, or Moto GP racing. Plus, I think part of the idea to me would be that the driver is stuck on a really bad team for a little while, just to show how important it is to construct a decent car. And as someone who has watched basically every F1 race over the past 2 years, sure, it gets boring sometimes, but the races that are really crazy really stick out. Like the 2011 Canadian GP. Or the last two Italian GPs. The 2019 Austrian GP. The 2005 Japanese GP. Besides, every race format has it's share of boring races. GT3 does a 6 hour race at Circuit Paul Ricard, as an example.
