Chapter 86 is OUT!
KNUCKLEDUSTER'S BACKSTORY
>Underground fighting ring
Why is the world building in the spin off manga so much better than the main manga?
Imagine if Deku had to go undercover here, instead of boring school activities.
We did have mention of these with Rappa and Hood-chan....somehow doubt this doesnt refrence either of them in return though.
Oh right, Rappa existed, still would've been more fun if the cast actually got involved with these events.
Fuck you Carlos
speaking of....
OH SHIT ITS HIM.
RAPPAAAAAA! Glad he's showed up again
Last page. Can't say I expected a KD backstory arc. Winder if it'll be as long as Aizawa's. Either way, it's looking like KD might be coming back so I'm hyped
who was this guy again
I think I remember him chasing Crawler but nothing else really
Didn't expect to see him here, but a welcome sight nonetheless
He´s from the main mangas Yakuza arc.
Man, Rappa bird´s mask really made him cooler.
That said, Hori is better at making monster-like designs work, the Illegals author is more used to drawing humans with proper proportions.
Based cameo.
Fuck, I wish Gentle and La Brava existed in the timeframe to appear here.
I always thought Betten's design for villain factory mooks is pretty weak
nigga he's quirkless, why are you complaining about what's fair
That bird mask makes all the difference. Especially when he got so excited he tore it open.
But why a KD backstory at this point? Is he gonna come back at the end of this?
This is all one last big Knuckleduster nostalgia trip before the reveal of him becoming a Nomu under Six.
I mean, the main trio designs are pretty good, but the monster-like designs are pretty weak.
kino
Is this timeline wise already after he lost the quirk? This feels more like its gonna show more in detail how he lost it.
you can see him using the quirk here
Truth. Dude rellies too much on basic mutie monsters and more often than not doing a pop culture reference while he's at it. I'd say the one design I did like was the bat speedster... and perhaps the penguin soccer player too, just a little bit. Oh, Lamprey dude was also alright
Overall he should have gone a little more capeshit with villains making costumes for themselves, since the two previous examples were exactly that, though I understand the theme for most of the story was instant villains so there wasn't much room for that.
Honestly, he should have consulted Hori and asked for some throwaway villain designs.
>Why is the world building in the spin off manga so much better than the main manga?
Probably because you feel like the spinoff engages with it's world more than the main story does. It's not like the main comic isn't expanding it's setting, Hori just has a problem of introducing stuff and not truly capitalizing on them. Then again, this fight club is probably a flashback only locale but it's still flashy and fits in with the theme of "going outside the law" the series is built on.
He's not quirkless yet but he's pretending to be in the match
You shut your mouth.
The reference mooks are the best. I loved the Yakuzavengers and Evil Totoro.
