How did you think it was going to be? I found it in the same vein as the past beach chapter (the one that was adapted into the anime), mixing the fanservice with the more serious stuff is something the mangaka is known for.
Funny thing is, the beach episode in the anime had way more fanservice than the manga chapter, but if KyoAni decides to adapt this one for a hypothetical season 3, sure it will be the opposite.
