The entire point of Regulus is that he's a hypocrite who believes he lives a normal, peaceful lif; and does everything to retain the life he desires exactly as he leaves it. In essence he's Yoshikage Kira in a fantasy/medieval setting. In that same vein, it would be as if Kira wore bloodstained clothes or revealed his hands to the public - it fundamneally fucks the 'peaceful life' dynamic if Regulus himself does not act it out. He's an actor trying to fool himself.

She has done more than Rem has, for all the criticism of Emilia being a princess Rem has been sleeping beauty and Subaru's obsession with her was the driving force in Arcs 4 and 5.
if anything, I have higher expectations for Emilia in Arc 7 since she is cut from the Envy cloth and Subaru is going to obsess over Rem in front of her face
