It's going to be a challenge to get anime-only people to watch the OVA since the game follows its own version of the story. But I guess this OVA works exactly like FGO Babylonia in how it's designed for existing players than as a standalone media.

They'll watch it, just not have a damn clue what's going on. The OVAs will probably do less to get people up to speed than Mini Toji did, and that did almost nothing. But if Yume gets thrown in at some point they'll eat it up.

I hate gachashit, not only because of the gachashit, but because leveling isn't a matter of defeating enemies and such. It's a matter of farming materials constantly, needing duplicates and god knows what.
Every gacha I tried ended up boring me to death

Yes, and you have a lot of catching up to do. The events and episodes are mostly just for fun, but you should watch through the whole main story playlist. It overlaps with the anime until part 5, but still gives important context for what the investigation team was up to.
