Appare-Ranman!

This legitimately was one of the most satisfying anime I've seen in years. All the primary characters were exceedingly likable. All the things I wanted to happen in the story happened. Great animation. Great soundtrack. Great aesthetic in general, and it wrapped up everything conclusively. Except maybe Kosame getting with Jing, but that's still open.

I don't really have a point to this thread. I just wanted to sing its praises. Watch it if you can. It's a good time.

I thought it was just okay. Nothing that will really stick with me, but I had some fun.

Haven't watched the last episode but I found it kind of meh, it was okay when it was being wacky and bad when it was being dramatic.

Glad you liked it! I just enjoyed the heck out of it. Definitely gonna stick with me personally. Felt like a breath of fresh out. Like something someone wanted to make, as opposed to grinding out an adaptation. This was someone's vision. Kinda wish the last episode was a bit longer, but it wrapped things up so well.

Honestly AOTS for me at least. Not like there was much else keeping me around otherwise. TJ best boy.

TJ was fucking awesome. Loved how he took his shades off in the finale.

>Gil's speed goes up when he shifts into the next gear
>Gil was a racecar in human form

It was very good. I don't know if I would go so far as to call it one of the best ones I've seen in years. But it is one I would recommend to anybody interested in a good action anime.

I kind of want more Anime westerns now. Something about the setting that translates weirdly well to animation.

I haven't finished it yet but I'm scared that the ending is going to be rushed because the pacing seems a bit slow. Am I wrong about this?

Eh. I think it might feel rushed if you are really invested in the racing. Personally, It became pretty obvious that the Race was more of a setting than anything else after a while. So, I didn't mind too much.

The final episode could've been a little longer, but it wraps up really well.

Also, this. The show sells itself on the racing, but to be honest, that's like, half the content or even less. Even including the action. That's not a negative for me though, because I really enjoyed the story and characters. It's not Initial D or Redline in any capacity, though.

Well I guess it depends on how far we wanna stretch 'years,' but one thing I really loved about the show is that it doesn't pull any unwanted twists. It didn't try to throw a curve ball for the sake of being talked about, or trying to be different. It's fairly straightforward, but that's what makes it satisfying. There aren't really any characters who are pricks that weren't intended to be pricks, and there aren't any notable "fuck you" moments that make you frustrated at the direction taken. It's good, general fun, that's elevated by a very likable cast, and just polished aesthetics.

That's pretty much my feelings as well. It's why I can easily recommend it, but only really to people who are into action shows. It's very straightforward in its execution. Which is not say it's boring or safe. It just knows what it wants to focus on and then does that really well.

I liked it. Had a nice cast too. Would have been nice to have some more racing but it was enjoyable as it was.
Also Xialian is top tier.

Chinese girls + Exposed bellies are a perfect combination.

The last 3 episodes were kind bad. I mean they were ok but I didn't liked the direction the anime was going.

I wish they would have focused more on the race.

That's the one thing I think could turn people off: being disappointed with the lack of racing. I can understand, especially since that's the major initial hook and advertising element to it, but me, personally, I kind of picked up that this wasn't really super intended to be a "racing" anime. It used racing as a framework for a lot of the story, and character development, but even content-wise, the best action was outside of the car.

Don't blame you if you're disappointed by that, but it wasn't really an issue for me.

I'm surprised they managed to wrap it up so well.

I was a little worried going into the last episode- they had the big bad to take down, the race to clear up, and sort out an ending, but they pulled it off pretty damn well. Maybe could've used an extra 10 minutes, and if I wanted to be a tad more critical, they could've stretched a decent amount of the content into an episode 14, but I wasn't let down or feeling wanting.

Except maybe imply a little more between Jing and Kosame.

Ruined by the ending.

Aw, what didn't you like?

There's no denying Gil was a shit villain.

He was super over the top, but the way he kind of meticulously, one by one, gave the protagonists a reason to want to fucking kill him was pretty great. Ended up tossed in a trunk, so that was fun.

I liked him when he was Richard.

all this show had to do to be great was be wacky races: the anime

the drama killed it. why the fuck was there so little racing

Well, it wasn't really about that. If it's not your thing, that's cool.

B-but ... MUH WACKY RACERS.

I agree. The terrible villain really took away from the fun. I wish the anime focused more on the race than the BBEG doing terrorism for retarded reasons.

>I kind of want more Anime westerns now. Something about the setting that translates weirdly well to animation.
I agree. Though i wonder if it would be as good if they played it straight.

>organize a race to prove cars were superior to rail
>ends up taking months to get across USA
Notwithstanding the railroad guy who got tossed out by Gil, didn't trains actually win in the end?

Bring back space westerns.

Well Appare's franken boat-car stopped a train, so that's clearly the future. Control over land and sea.

>Season 2 of Appare: air-western like Crimson Skies
>Season 3 of Appare: Space.

Agreed, this is an 8/10 borderline 9/10 for me. Would love to see a season 2.
