The Trump election did this, not jist to Zig Forums but to the entire site as a whole. Zig Forums became mainstream because of it and the tourists never left. And more are going to be coming over soon with the 2020 elections around the corner.

The 2016 election was big before the day of the election. It actually ebbed down after the election (though things never went back to normal).
I think people are overestimating this election because they are traumatized.
